3978 Of the 1,500 Desi words that do not seem to be Tadbhavas 800 are found in the modern Indo-Aryan vernaculars in a modified form. Are these words of Non-Aryan origin ? Their equivalents being found in the modern Aryan vernaculars, they are of Aryan origin. The remaining 700 Desī words may contain words of Non-Aryan origin if their equivalents are found in Non-Aryan languages. The result of this investigation made up to this time will be found in the complete Glossary of Deśī words contained in the Appendix to the English translation of this work forming Part II (volume II).
SECTION II THE TEXT AND COMMENTARY OF THE DESĪNĀMAMĀLĀ.
The Dešināmamālā was composed by Hemacandra, a Jaina monk who lived in Gujrat between 1088-1172 at the court of King Kumāra pāla of Anahillapura (Pattaņa). Hemacandra was a voluminous writer. He composed the Desīnāmamālā
