तत्त्वार्थसूत्र-विवेचन का प्रथम गुजराती संस्करण सन् १९३० में गुजरात विद्यापीठ, अहमदाबाद से प्रकाशित हुआ था। उसी के हिन्दी सस्करण की प्रकाशन सन् १९३९ मे श्री आत्मानन्द जन्म-शताब्दी स्मारक ग्रन्थमाला, बम्बई से प्रथम पूष्प के रूप में हआ। इस हिन्दी सस्करण के परिचय ( प्रस्तावना ) में कुछ संशोधन किया गया था और इसमें सम्पादक श्री कृष्णचन्द्रजी और प० दलसुखभाई मालवणिया ने शब्दसूची और सूत्रपाठ उपलब्ध पाठान्तरों के साथ जोड़ा था। 'परिचय' मे विशेषतः वाचक उमास्वाति की परम्परा के विषय में पुनर्विचार करते हुए यह कहा गया था कि वे श्वेताम्बर परम्परा के थे। इसी हिन्दी सस्करण के आधार पर गुजराती का दूसरा संस्करण सन् १९४० में श्री पूजाभाई जैन ग्रन्थमाला, अहमदाबाद से प्रकाशित हुआ और विवेचन मे दा-चार स्थानों पर विशेष स्पष्टीकरण बढाकर उसका तीसरा संस्करण उसी ग्रन्थमाला से सन् १९४९ मे प्रकाशित हआ। बाद में हिन्दी का दूसरा सस्करण उक्त स्पष्टीकरणो के साथ जैन संस्कृति संशोधन मंडल, बनारस से सन् १९५२ मे प्रकाशित हुआ ।
प्रथम गुजराती सस्करण ( सन् १९३०) के वक्तव्य का आवश्यक अश यहाँ दिया जा रहा है, जिससे मुख्यतया तीन बातें ज्ञात होती हैं। पहली यह कि शुरू में विवेचन किस ढग से लिखने की इच्छा थी और अन्त में वह किस रूप मे लिखा गया। दूसरी यह कि हिन्दी में विवेचन लिखना प्रारंभ करने पर भी वह प्रथम गुजरातो में क्यों और किस परिस्थिति मे समाप्त किया गया और फिर सारा का सारा विवेचन गुजराती में ही प्रथम क्यों प्रकाशित हुआ। तीसरी यह कि कैसे और किन अधिकारियों को लक्ष्य मे रखकर विवेचन लिखा गया है, उसका आधार क्या है और उसका स्वरूप तथा शैली कैसी रखी गई है । __ "प्रथम कल्पना-लगभग १२ वर्ष पहले जब मै अपने सहृदय मित्र श्री रमणिकलाल मगनलाल मोदी, बी० ए० के साथ पूना में था तब हम दोनो ने मिलकर साहित्य-निर्माण के विषय में बहुत विचार करने के
