भिन्न शक्तिजन्य विजातीय पर्याय एक समय मे एक द्रव्य मे होते है, परन्तु एक शक्तिजन्य भिन्न-भिन्न समयभावी सजातीय पर्याय एक द्रव्य मे एक समय मे नही होते ।।
आत्मा और पुद्गल द्रव्य है, क्योकि उनमे क्रमशः चेतना आदि तथा रूप आदि अनन्त गुण है और ज्ञान-दर्शनरूप विविध उपयोग आदि तथा नील, पीत आदि विविध अनन्त पर्याय है। आत्मा चेतनाशक्ति द्वारा भिन्न-भिन्न उपयोगरूप में और पुद्गल रूपशक्ति द्वारा भिन्न भिन्न नील, पीत आदि के रूप में परिणत होता रहता है। चेतनाशक्ति आत्म द्रव्य से और आत्मगत अन्य शक्तियों से अलग नहीं की जा सकती। इसी प्रकार रूपशक्ति पुद्गल द्रव्य से तथा पुद्गलगत अन्य शक्तियों से पृथक् नही हो सकती । ज्ञान, दर्शन आदि भिन्नभिन्न समयवर्ती विविध उपयोगों के त्रैकालिक प्रवाह की कारणभूत एक चेतनाशक्ति है और उस शक्ति का कार्यभूत पर्याय-प्रवाह उपयोगात्मक है। पुद्गल मे भी कारणभूत रूपशक्ति और नील, पीत आदि विविध वर्णपर्यायप्रवाह उस एक शक्ति का कार्य है । आत्मा मे उपयोगात्मक पर्याय-प्रवाह की तरह सुख-दु.ख वेदनात्मक पर्याय-प्रवाह, प्रवृत्त्यात्मक पर्याय-प्रवाह आदि अनन्त पर्याय-प्रवाह एक साथ चलते है । इसलिए उसमे चेतना की भांति उस-उस सजातीय पर्यायप्रवाह की कारणभूत आनन्द, वीर्य आदि एक-एक शक्ति के मानने से अनन्त शक्तियाँ सिद्ध होती है । इसी प्रकार पुद्गल मे भी रूपपर्याय-प्रवाह की भांति गन्ध, रस, स्पर्श आदि अनन्त पर्याय-प्रवाह सतत चलते है। इसलिए प्रत्येक प्रवाह की कारणभूत एक-एक शक्ति के मानने से उसमे रूपशक्ति की भाँति गन्ध, रस, स्पर्श आदि अनन्त शक्तियाँ सिद्ध होती है । आत्मा मे चेतना, आनन्द, वीर्य आदि शक्तियों के भिन्न-भिन्न विविध पर्याय एक समय मे हो सकते है परन्तु एक चेतनाशक्ति या एक आनन्दशक्ति के विविध उपयोग पर्याय या विविध वेदना पर्याय एक समय मे नही हो सकते, क्योंकि प्रत्येक शक्ति का एक समय मे एक ही पर्याय व्यक्त होता है। इसी प्रकार पुद्गल मे भी रूप, गन्ध आदि भिन्न-भिन्न शक्तियो के भिन्न-भिन्न पर्याय एक समय मे होते है परन्तु एक रूपशक्ति के नील, पीत आदि विविध पर्याय एक समय मे नहीं होते । जिस प्रकार आत्मा और पुद्गल द्रव्य नित्य है उसी प्रकार उनकी चेतना आदि तथा रूप आदि शक्तियाँ भी नित्य है । चेतनाजन्य उपयोग-पर्याय या रूपशक्तिजन्य नील-पीतपर्याय नित्य नही है, किन्तु सदैव उत्पत्ति-विनाशशील होने से इकाई के रूप में अनित्य है और उपयोग-पर्याय-प्रवाह तथा रूप-पर्याय-प्रवाह त्रैकालिक होने से नित्य है ।

Similarly, in pudgala, diverse flows such as smell, taste, touch, etc., continuously exist like the flow of forms. Consequently, attributing each flow's cause to a distinct energy results in establishing infinite powers like material energy. In the soul, different forms of powers like consciousness, bliss, and energy can coexist at the same time; however, diverse utilitarian forms of one single conscious energy or diverse forms of bliss cannot coexist at the same time because only one form of a given energy can manifest at a time. Similarly, in pudgala, different forms of diverse energies like shape and smell can coexist at the same time, but various manifestations of one material energy, such as blue and yellow, cannot coexist simultaneously. Just as the soul and pudgala substances are eternal, so too are their powers of consciousness and form eternal. However, the utilitarian forms of conscious energy or the diverse forms of material energy, such as blue and yellow, are not eternal; they are transient as they undergo constant generation and destruction. Therefore, the flow of utilitarian forms and the flow of material forms, being timeless, are eternal.
