The Inferior Status of the Vaimānika Deities
The status of the Vaimānika deities in the realms of Saudharm and others is as follows. In Saudharm, the status is two sāgaropa; in Aishān, it is somewhat more than two sāgaropa; and in Sanatkumar, it is seven sāgaropa.
From Mahendra to Āraṇa-Achyuta, the status successively is somewhat more than seven sāgaropa, three more than seven sāgaropa, seven more than seven sāgaropa, ten more than seven sāgaropa, eleven more than seven sāgaropa, thirteen more than seven sāgaropa, and fifteen more than seven sāgaropa.
Above Āraṇa-Achyuta, there are nine Avayaks, four Vijayas, and in Sarvārthasiddha, the status is sequentially one sāgaropa more each time.
The status of the Vaimānika deities described here is excellent. In the first heaven, there are two sāgaropa, in the second, there are somewhat more than two sāgaropa, in the third, it is seven sāgaropa, in the fourth, somewhat more than seven sāgaropa, in the fifth, there are ten sāgaropa, in the sixth, there are fourteen sāgaropa, in the seventh, there are seventeen sāgaropa, in the eighth, there are eighteen sāgaropa, in the ninth-tenth, there are twenty sāgaropa, and in the eleventh-twelfth, there are twenty-two sāgaropa. In the first Prāveyaka, there are twenty-three sāgaropa, in the second, there are twenty-four sāgaropa, and in this way, increasing one by one, in the ninth Prāveyaka, there are thirty-one sāgaropa. In the first four Anuttara Vimanas, there are thirty-two, and in Sarvārthasiddha, there are thirty-three sāgaropa.
The inferior status of the Vaimānika deities is more than an inferior palyopama. 39. It is two sāgaropa. 40. And more than that. 41.
From that point onwards, there is a lesser inferior status, somewhat more palyopama than the previous. 42. It is two sāgaropa.
1. In Digambara commentaries and occasionally in some Shvetambara texts, the superior status in the four Vimanadi is considered to be thirty-three sāgaropa. See the commentary on verse 42 of this chapter. In the Sangrahani text, the superior status is also said to be thirty-three sāgaropa.
