Tattvarthasutra
[4. 30-38
The low and high ages of humans and non-humans have been described. The ages of gods and hell beings remain to be explained, which are discussed until the conclusion of this chapter. 29.
The elevated position of the gods of the southern half of the heavens is like a playouthem in the buildings. 30.
For the remaining beings, it is one-fourth less. 31.
For the asura lords, it is comparable to the ocean and more. 32.
In the buildings, the position of the gods of the southern half is one and a half playouthems. The position of the remaining gods is one and three-fourths playouthems.
The positions of two asura lords are, respectively, comparable to the ocean and somewhat more than that.
Here, the elevated position of the gods of the buildings has been described because the description of the low position is mentioned later in sutra 45. There are ten classifications of building gods such as the asura and naga lords. Each class comprises two lords as the rulers of the southern and northern halves. Among them, the elevated positions of the two asura lords from the south and north are as follows: The lord of the southern half, named Chamar, has a position of one ocean-like, and the lord of the northern half, named Bali, has a position slightly more than one ocean-like. Excluding the asura lords, the positions of the other nine types of building gods, such as the naga lords, in the southern half are one and a half playouthems, and in the northern half, for the gods named Bhutananda, etc., the position is one and three-fourths playouthems. 30-32.
The elevated position of the Vaimanikas is according to the categories of Saudharma, etc. 33.
Comparable to the ocean. 34.
And more than that. 35.
Seven Sanatkumars. 36.
Especially in the configurations of seventy-three, eleven, thirteen, and fifteen, and more. 37.
From Aaranachyuta upwards, by each of the nine Praveyakas, in the configurations like Vijay, etc., with a complete fulfillment of every purpose. 38.
