भारतीय है, यह हैमवतीय है इत्यादि व्यवहार क्षेत्र के सम्बन्ध से और यह जम्बूद्वीपीय है, यह धातकोखण्डीय है इत्यादि व्यवहार द्वीप के सम्बन्ध से होता
मनुष्यजाति के मुख्यतः आर्य और म्लेच्छ ये दो भेद है । निमित्तभेद की दृष्टि से छः प्रकार के आर्य है जैसे क्षेत्र, जाति, कुल,कर्म, शिल्प और भाषा । १. क्षेत्रआर्य वे है, जो पन्द्रह कर्मभूमियों मे और उनमे भी आर्यदेशों मे उत्पन्न होते है।' २. जाति-आर्य वे है जो इक्ष्वाकु, विदेह, हरि, ज्ञात, कुरु, उग्र आदि वंशों में उत्पन्न होते है । ३. कुल-आर्य वे है जो कुलकर, चक्रवर्ती, बलदेव, वासुदेव आदि के रूप मे विशुद्ध कुल में उत्पन्न होते है । ४. कर्म-आर्य वे है जो यजन, याजन, पठन, पाठन, कृषि, लिपि, वाणिज्य आदि द्वारा आजीविका चलाते है । ५. शिल्पआर्य जुलाहा, नाई, कुम्हार आदि है जो अल्प आरम्भवाली और अनिन्द्य आजीविकावाले है। ६. भाषा आर्य वे है जो शिष्टपुरुषमान्य भाषाओं मे सुगम रीति से वचन आदि का व्यवहार करते है। इनसे विपरीत लक्षणोंवाले सभी मनुष्य म्लेच्छ है, जैसे शक, यवन, कम्बोज, शबर, पुलिन्द आदि । छप्पन अन्तर्वीपों मे रहनेवाले सभी मनुष्य तथा कर्मभूमियों मे भी अनार्य देशोत्पन्न म्लेच्छ ही है । १५ । ___ कर्मभूमियाँ-कर्मभूमि वही है जहाँ मोक्षमार्ग के ज्ञाता और उपदेष्टा तीर्थङ्कर उत्पन्न होते है । ढाई द्वीप मे मनुष्य की उत्पत्ति के पैतीस क्षेत्र और छप्पन अन्तर्वीप है। उनमें ऐसो कर्मभूमियाँ पन्द्रह ही है और वे है पाँच भरत, पाँच ऐरावत और पाँच विदेह । इनके अतिरिक्त शेष बी स क्षेत्र तथा सब अन्तर्वीप अकर्मभूमि ( भोगभूमि ) ही है। यद्यपि देवकुरु और उत्तरकुरु ये दो क्षेत्र विदेह के अन्तर्गत ही है तथापि वे कर्मभूमियाँ नहीं है, क्योकि उनमे युगलिक-धर्म होने से चारित्र धारण करना सम्भव नही है, जैसे हैमवत आदि अकर्मभूमियो में । १६ । __मनुष्य और तिर्यञ्चों की स्थिति-मनुष्य की उत्कृष्ट स्थिति (आयुमर्यादा)
१. प्रत्येक क्षेत्र मे साढे पच्चीस आर्यदेश के हिसाब से पाँच भरत और पॉच ऐरावत मे दो सौ पचपन आर्य देश है और पाँच विदेह के एक सौ साठ चक्रवती-विजय आर्यदेश है। इन्ही मे तीर्थकर उत्पन्न होते है और धर्मप्रवर्तन करते है। इनको छोडकर पन्द्रह कर्मभूमियो का शेष क्षेत्र आर्यदेश नही माना जाता।
२. तीर्थकर, गणधर आदि जो अतिशयसम्पन्न है वे शिष्ट है, उनकी भाषा संस्कृत व अर्धमागधी आदि होती है ।
३. इस व्याख्या के अनुसार हैमवत आदि तोस भोगभूमियो ( अकर्मभूगियो ) के निवासी म्लेच्छ ही है।

Craftsmanship-Aryans are those like weavers, barbers, potters, etc., who have minimal starting resources and unblemished livelihoods. 6. Language-Aryans are those who conduct their speech, etc., in refined languages recognized by polite society. All humans with opposing characteristics to these are Mleccha, such as Shaka, Yavana, Kamboja, Shabara, Pulinda, etc. All humans residing in the fifty-six inner islands, and those born in non-Aryan countries are also classified as Mleccha. Karmabhumis are where the Jain Tirthankaras, who know and teach the path to liberation, are born. In the two-and-half islands, there are thirty-five regions and fifty-six inner islands.
