Middle World
There are six mountains known as Varshadhar that separate the seven regions from one another. All of these are elongated in the east-west direction. Between the Bharat and Hemavat regions lies the Himalaya mountain. The dividing mountain between Hemavat and Harivars is the Mahahimalaya. The dividing mountain between Harivars and Videha is the Nishad mountain. The dividing mountain between Videha and Rampakvars is the Nil mountain. The dividing mountain between Ramyak and Hiranvata is the Rukmi mountain. The dividing mountain between Hiranvata and Airavat is the Shikhari mountain.
The aforementioned seven regions are situated in a long strip from the eastern end to the western end in the Jambudvipa, which is shaped like a plate. The Videha region is in the center of all of these, and therefore the Meru mountain is also situated right in the middle of that region. The Nil mountain separates the Videha region from the Ramyak region, and the Nishad mountain separates it from the Harivars region. In the Videha region, the semicircular area between Mah and Nil mountains is called Uttarakuru, whose east-west limits are determined by the two mountains there; and a similar semicircular part between Meru and Nishad mountains is called Devakuru. Both the Devakuru and Uttarakuru regions are parts of Videha, that is, Mahavideha; however, due to the presence of populations of Yugalas in those regions, they are identified differently. Excluding the parts of Devakuru and Uttarakuru, there are sixteen departments in the remaining eastern and western parts of Mahavideha, known as Vijay. Therefore, there are a total of 32 Vijays on both the eastern and western sides of the Sumeru mountain.
On the limit of the Bharat region in Jambudvipa, the two ends of the Himalaya mountain are extended in the east-west salt sea. Similarly, the two ends of the Shikhari mountain at the border of the Airavat region are also extended in the salt sea. Each end is divided into two parts, resulting in a total of eight parts of both mountains coming into the salt sea. Due to their shape resembling tusks, they are called Dada. Each Dada has seven regions populated by humans. These regions are renowned as islands due to coming into the salt sea, and their number is fifty-six. Yugalas also reside among them.
Prastand and Pushkarardhadvipa - The number of Varsh and Varshadhar in Jambudvipa is double, meaning there are two.
In the Airavat region, the direction of sunrise is there. Therefore, by also facing towards the sunrise, the Meru mountain falls in the north direction. Similarly, in other regions, Meru falls in the north as well.
