**Tattvartha Sutra**
[2. 26-31]
For worldly souls, the question of food arises, as there is always a subtle body during the interval motion. Food means the acceptance of mundane particles suitable for the gross body. Such food is sometimes found and sometimes not found in worldly beings during the interval motion. Those with straight motion or those who move in a two-time state with a body do not go without food, because when they leave the previous body, they immediately obtain a new location without any time gap. Therefore, the time of their straight motion is the time of food taken from the discarded previous body or from the new birth location. The same situation applies to a two-time state, as in its two times the first is the time for food taken by the previous body, and the second is the time for arriving at the new origin location where food is taken for assuming a new body. However, in a three-time two-body motion and in a four-time three-body motion, there is a state of going without food, because in these two motions, the first time corresponds to the food taken by the rejected body and the final time corresponds to the food taken at the origin location. Excluding the first and final times, the intermediate period is devoid of food. Therefore, in a two-body motion, the soul is considered to be without food for one time, and in a three-body motion, the soul is considered to be without food for two times. This sentiment is expressed in the present sutra. In summary, in straight motion and one-body motion the state of having food persists, while in two-body and three-body motions, excluding the first and ultimate times, the intermediate one and two times remain in the state of going without food. In some instances, three times are acknowledged in the context of the possibility of a four-body motion of five times in the state of going without food.
**Question:** It has been noted that during interval motion there is an absence of gross particles for body-nourishing food, but the question is whether karma particles are accepted during that time or not?
**Answer:** They are accepted.
**Question:** How are they accepted?
**Answer:** Even during interval motion, worldly souls certainly possess their karmic body. Therefore, this body-generated self-region vibration, known as karmic yoga, certainly exists. When there is yoga, the acceptance of karma particles is also inevitable, as yoga is the cause of the attraction of karmic aggregation. Just as during the rainfall...
