Eighth Chapter: The causes of bondage due to the delusion of false perception and attachment to passions.
1. The soul, because of its passions, adapts to the karma it acquires.
2. This is bondage.
3. The nature of the foundation and experience in specific areas is thus.
4. The first (form of bondage) is the veil of knowledge and perception, and the delusion of passion concerning the duration of life, which is determined by one's own lineage.
5. The 29 forms of bondage arise in sequence, as they are specified.
6. As for those known to have perceptions and comprehensions, the clinging to only the perceptible forms and the forms that are devoid of perception, the sleep of awareness and the non-awareness persist in a fluctuating cycle.
7. The knowledge of these is essential.
8. The delusion concerning the relationship between perception and conduct, concerning the passionately clinging to various entities, is known as the triad of errors, which includes various divisions of 12, 15, and so forth.
9. The understanding of both right perception and false perception arises from the passions, which leads to joy, passion, sorrow, fear, and repulsion concerning various forms of life and our attachments to them, and the culmination of these results in anger, pride, deceit, and greed.
10. The individuals classified here are to be considered.
