1. In the commentary of Siddhasena, he states that instead of this one verse, the two verses "substances and souls" should be taken. He argues that reading this verse broken into two parts is incorrect. Someone has similarly raised a doubt in front of Akalanka, asking why not maintain one verse without "and" for "substances and souls"? Vidyananda asserts that the two verses were created for clearer understanding. 2. Siddhasena notes that someone splits this verse into "eternally existing" and "and formed," creating two verses. He has also presented alternative readings regarding eternally existing formless entities in his commentary. He indicates another reading that cites them as "eternally existing formless entities." He also mentions that some consider the word "eternal" as an adjective for "existing." For differing interpretations of this verse, the commentary of the Siddhaseni is worthy of consideration. 3. See discussion, page 115, note 1. 4. -From the category of righteousness and unrighteousness- as per the commentary. 5. In commentary notes, this is not a separate verse. Siddhasena has clarified the reason for maintaining separate sections.
