It is still evident that it appears to be a transformation of some ancient work, and from this perspective, its statement carries a degree of authority. 'Darshanasara' was created in the year 660 of the Vikram era, in which Padmanandi or Kundakunda is mentioned, but not Umāsvāti. By the time of Jinendra, the Rajavartika and Shlokavartika had already been composed, yet even they did not mention Umāsvāti in the context of praising numerous teachers and authors, as they did not consider him part of their tradition. There is another matter. The authors of texts such as Adipurana and Harivanshapurana also did not mention Kundakunda, which is worth considering.
In my understanding, Kundakunda was a prominent figure in a specific tradition or sect. He had shaped Jainism in the mold of Vedanta. It seems that by the time of Jinendra and others, his views were not widely accepted, and hence, there was a lack of respect towards him.
The verse “Tatvārthaśāstra Kartāraṃ Gṛdhrapicchopalakṣitam” is uncertain in its origin and antiquity. It is found in the original manuscripts of the Tattvarthasūtra. In some places, Kundakunda is also referred to as Gṛdhrapiccha. There is mention of another teacher with the name Gṛdhrapiccha. Please refer to the articles related to Kundakunda in Jainhitaishi, Volume 10, page 369, and Volume 15, Issue 6.
Also, please read the introduction to Shatpahuda. Shrat Sagar completed the commentary on Ashadhara's Mahabhisheka in the year 1582. Therefore, these works belong to the Vikram period's 17th century. The authors of the commentary on Tattvartha and those of the Patanahad and Yashastilaka are the same. I do not have any information regarding Shrut Sagar.
(g) From the letter of Jugalkishorji Mukhtar: “I will provide some answers to your questions briefly:
1. So far, the Digambara Pattal community's texts that have been found, differing from the Guruvālīs provided in the literature, seem to be from after the 12th century of Vikram. It would be correct to say this. I cannot comment at this time on which is the oldest among them and when they were composed. Most of the pattavalis were created during...”
