* ૪૭૫ :
જે કે પુરુષાર્થને કાળ, સ્વભાવ વગેરેની અપેક્ષા રહે જ છે, તે પણ વિજય આપવામાં તે એક્કો છે. વર્તમાન યુગમાં
અર્થાત–આપણું સુખ અધિકાંશ આપણે જેવા હેઈએ તેના ઉપર, આપણા વ્યક્તિત્વ ઊપર અવલંબિત છે.

.—Burke અર્થાત–મોટે ભાગે પિતાના પ્રયત્ન પ્રમાણે બનવાનો વિશેષ અધિકાર માણસને મળેલ છે.

Smile's Self-Help અર્થાત–ખૂબ ગરીબ માણસોએ કયારેક ઊંચામાં ઊંચા સ્થાન પ્રાપ્ત કર્યા છે અત્યત કઠિન દેખાતાં સરકટો તેમના માર્ગમાં બાધક થઈ શક્યાં નથી. ઘણા ઉદાહરણોમાં કઠિન સંકટ, પરિશ્રમ અને સહનનું બળ જગાડીને અને શક્તિને પ્રદીપ્ત કરીને તેમને શ્રેષ્ઠ સહાયક બનેલાં પણ જોવાય છે. એવી શક્તિઓને કે જે બીજી રીતે તેમની અંદર છુપાયેલી જ પડી રહી હોત.
