________________ Appendix-I The Sanskrit chāya : सर्व-सलवणा गौरी अधरस्य मधुरः स्वादः । तिक्ता अम्ला प्रलोकने विरहः एव कटुकः कषायः ॥ The observations on the illutration in the SP. are somewhat helpful for reconstructing the passage. 19. The illustration of a varieiy of Asambhavanaisedhiki Vyapeksa (SP. p. 273). This has been treated under no: 3 above. 20. The illustration of the first variety of Virodhanaişedhiki Vyapekşā (ŚP. p. 273). The text as given in the SP: ते पुच्छिज्जहिपत्तडि जेतहि दिसिहि न एंति । जेहीसदिगिोरधीतेदुकरजीअंति ॥ The suggested reconstruction : ते पुच्छिज्जहिं वत्तडी जे तहि दिसहि न एंति । जेहिं स दिट्ठि गोरडी ते दुक्करु जीअंति ॥ The Sanskrit Chaya : ते पृच्छयेयुः वार्ता ये तस्याः दिशः न आयान्ति । यैः सा दृष्टा गौरी ते दुष्करं जीवन्ति ॥ . . 21. The illustration of second variety of Virodhanaisedhiki Vyapeksa (SP. p. 280). The text as given in the SP : पिअसंगम किं वहि इडिपि अहोपरोक्खहोक्केव । मइवेन्निविनासि आणिद्दणएव न तेव ॥ . The same passage is cited under SH. 8.4.418. The text there is correctly preserved. It is as under: पिअ-संगमि कउ निद्दडी पिअहो परोक्खहो केम्व । मई बिन्नि वि विनासिआ निद्द न एम्व न तेम्व ॥ . The Sanskrit chayā : प्रिय-संगमे कुतः (कथम्) निद्रा प्रियस्य परोक्षस्य कथम् । मया द्वे अपि विनाशिते निद्रा न एवं न तथा ॥
