( ૩ ) Once again, the disciple asks Lord Mahavir :प्र. चउव्वीसत्थएणं भंते जीवे कि जणयइ ? उ. चउन्धीसत्थएणं दंसणविसोहिं जणयइ । उत्त. २९-९
The question is, 'Oh Lord ! what does one benefit by the worship of the 24 Tirthankaras ?
પ્રશ્ન : હે ભગવન્! ચતુર્વિશતિસ્તવ અર્થાત્ ચાવીસ તીર્થકરની સ્તુતિ કરવાથી શું લાભ થાય ?
Lord replies : 'By Chaturvinshatistava the soul arr. ives at purity of faith.
ભગવાન જવાબ આપે છે, “ચતુર્વિશતિસ્તવથી આ આત્મા શ્રદ્ધાની વિશુદ્ધિ પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે.
Constant chanting of the Lord's (Tirthankaras) name destroys all evils, expels all evils and purifies the mind. Only a pure mind is receptive to the virtues.
ચોવીશ તીર્થકરોનું સતત સ્મરણ કરવાથી અર્થાત્ ભકિતભાવથી પ્રભુનું નામ લેવાથી આત્માના દે નાશ પામે છે. ભગવાનનું નામ પાપ વિશુદ્ધિ કરી મનને પવિત્ર બનાવે છે અને પવિત્ર મન જ સદ્દગુણેને ગ્રહણ કરવા લાયક બને છે.
3. Vandana-વંદના.
Vandana means offering our salutations. Salutations may be offered to the Lord and Saints.
વંદના એટલે મસ્તક, બે હાથ, બે પગ એ પાંચ અંગ નમાવીને નમસ્કાર કરવા તે. આ વેદના વિહરમાન અરિહંત ભગવાન, સિદ્ધ ભગવાન તથા સાધુ-સાદવજીને કરાય છે.
