Just at that very moment a radiant heavenly being appeared and said, "Oh.. King! You are exactly as great as Ishanendra in heaven described you to be. I have come here only to test you. Kindly forgive my blunder." Saying this he disappeared. इधर न कबूतर रहा, न बाज रहा, न खून से लथपथ राजा का शरीर रहा। राजा पूर्ववत् अवस्था में पौषध में थे।
The dove had disappeared. The hawk had disappeared too. The body of the king which had been chopped and was bleeding had returned into its original form. As at the beginning he sat there continuing the Paushadh Vrat.
उसके बाद दीक्षा लेकर वीस स्थानक तप की आराधना के साथ सर्वजीवों के उद्धार की भावना से मेघरथ राजर्षि ने तीर्थंकर नामकर्म बांधा। आगे चल कर वे ही मेघरथ राजा सोलहवें तीर्थंकर श्री शांतिनाथ भगवान बने ।

Thus by achieving higher and higher levels of spiritual excellence, King Megharatha became the 16th Lord known as Shantinath Bhagwan.
सार : जब हम दूसरों को शांति देते है, तब वही शांति दुगुनी - चौगुनी हो कर हमें ही मिलती है।
