રચાર અને સમ્રાટ,

Vol. I p. p. 61-62.]. અર્થાત–તે ( બાદશાહ) જમાનાની લાગણીઓને કંઈક અંશે વળગી રહીને પણ હાલમાં ધીરે ધીરે માંસ છેડવાને વિચાર રાખે છે. બાદશાહ ઘણા વખત સુધી શુક્રવારોએ અને ત્યારપછી રવિવારાએ પણ માંસ ભક્ષણ કરતે નહિ. હાલમાં તે દરેક સૈાર્ય મહીનાની પહેલી તિથિએ, રવિવારે, સૂર્ય અને ચંદ્રગ્રહણના દિવસોએ, બે ઉપવાસની વચ્ચેના દિવસોએ, રજબ મહીનાના સોમવારેએ, દરેક સાર્ય મહીનાના તહેવારે, આખા ફરવરદીન મહીનામાં અને પિતાના (બાદશાહના) જન્મના મહીનામાં અથતુ આખા આબાન માસમાં માંસભક્ષણ કરતા નથી.
જૈન લેખકેની સત્યતા, અબુલફજલના આ વચનથી બહુ દઢ થાય છે. કારણ કે-જૈન લેખકે જે દિવસે ગણાવ્યા છે, તેજ દિવસો લગભગ અબુલફજલ પણ ગણાવે છે, એટલું જ નહિ પરતુ જેન લેખકે, બાદશાહે છ મહીના અને છ દિવસ–અથવા છ મહીના ઉપર માંસાહાર છોડયા સંબંધી અને તેટલા જ દિવસમાં જીવહિંસા. બંધ કર્યા સંબંધી જે હકીકત જણાવે છે, તેજ હકીકત અકબરના દરબારને કટ્ટર મુસલમાન બરાઉની પણ લખે છે. તે કહે છે–
“ At this time His Majesty promulgated some of his new-faugled decrees. The Killing of animals on the first day of the week was strictly prohibited, (P. 322 ) because this day is secred to the Sun, also during the first eighteen days, of the month of Farwardin; the whole of the month of Aban ( the month in which His Majesty was born); and on several other days, to please the Hindus.
