चौथा उद्देशक] [353 इच्छा हो तो समीप में रखे, इच्छा न हो तो न रखे / इच्छा हो तो अलग विचरने के लिये शिष्य दे, इच्छा न हो तो न दे। विवेचन-इन सूत्रों में रत्नाधिक और शैक्ष सार्मिक भिक्षुओं के ऐच्छिक एवं आवश्यक कर्तव्यों का कथन किया गया है। यहां रत्नाधिक की अपेक्षा अल्प दीक्षापर्याय वाले भिक्षु को शैक्ष कहा गया है, अतः इस अपेक्षा से अनेक वर्षों की दीक्षापर्याय वाला भी शैक्ष कहा जा सकता है। (1) रत्नाधिक भिक्षु शिष्य आदि से सम्पन्न हो और शैक्ष भिक्षु शिष्य आदि से सम्पन्न न हो तो उसे विचरण करने के लिये शिष्य देना या उसके लिये आहार आदि मंगवा देना और अन्य भी सेवाकार्य करवा देना रत्नाधिक के लिये ऐच्छिक कहा गया है अर्थात् उन्हें उचित लगे या उनकी इच्छा हो वैसा कर सकते हैं। (2) शैक्ष भिक्ष यदि शिष्य आदि से सम्पन्न हो एवं रत्नाधिक भिक्ष शिष्यादि से सम्पन्न न हो और वह विचरण करना चाहे या कोई सेवा कराना चाहे तो शिष्यादिसम्पन्न शैक्ष का कर्तव्य हो जाता है कि वह रत्नाधिक को बहुमान देकर उनकी आज्ञानुसार प्रवृत्ति करे। यह कथन यहां कर्तव्य एवं अधिकार की अपेक्षा से किया गया है। किन्तु सेवा की आवश्यकता होने पर तो रत्नाधिक को भी शैक्ष की यथायोग्य सेवा करना या करवाना आवश्यक होता है। न करने पर वह प्रायश्चित्त का पात्र होता है। अत: सूत्रोक्त विधान सामान्य स्थिति की अपेक्षा से है, ऐसा समझना चाहिये। रत्नाधिक को अग्रणी मानकर विचरने का विधान 26. दो भिक्खुणो एगयओ विहरंति, नो णं कप्पइ अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए, कप्पइ णं अहाराइणियाए अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरितए / 27. दो गणावच्छेइया एगयओ विहरंति, नो णं कप्पइ अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए, कप्पइ णं अहाराइणियाए अण्णमण्णं उपसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए। 28. दो आयरिय-उवज्झाया एगयओ विहरंति, नो णं कप्पइ अण्णमण्णं उपसंपज्जिताणं विरित्तए / कप्पइ णं अहाराइणियाए अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए / 29. बहवे भिक्खुणो एगयओ विहरंति नो णं कप्पइ अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए। कप्पइ णं अहाराइणियाए अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए। 30. बहवे गणावच्छेइया एगयओ विहरंति, नो णं कप्पइ अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जिताणं विहरित्तए / कप्पइ णं अहाराइणियाए अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए। 31. बहवे आयरिय-उवज्झाया एगयओ विहरंति, नो णं कप्पइ अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जिताणं विहरित्तए / कप्पइ णं अहाराइणियाए अण्णमण्णं उवसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरित्तए /
