तीसरा उद्देशक [191 अन्त में भाष्यकार ने यह भी लिखा है कि शय्या-संस्तारक का स्वामी राजा के द्वारा देश से निकाल दिया गया हो या वह अपने कुटुम्ब परिवार को लेकर अन्यत्र चला गया हो, अथवा कालधर्म को प्राप्त हो गया हो, अथवा रोग, वृद्धावस्था प्रादि के कारण साधु स्वयं गवेषणा करने में असमर्थ हो या इसी प्रकार का और कोई कारण हो जाए तो वैसी अवस्था में खोए गए शय्या-संस्तारक की गवेषणा नहीं करता हुआ भी साधु प्रायश्चित्त का भागी नहीं होता है। आगन्तुक श्रमणों को पूर्वाज्ञा में रहने का विधान 28. जद्दिवसं च णं समणा निग्गंथा सेज्जासंथारयं विप्पजहंति, तदिवसं च णं अवरे समणा निग्गंथा हव्वमागच्छेज्जा, सच्चेव ओग्गहस्स पुव्वाणुण्णवणा चिट्ठइ अहालंदमवि उग्गहे / 29. अत्थि या इत्थ केइ उवस्सयपरियावन्नय अचित्ते परिहरणारिहे, सच्चेव' उग्गहस्स पुवाणुण्णवणा चिट्ठइ, अहालंदमवि उग्गहे / 28. जिस दिन श्रमण-निर्ग्रन्थ शय्या-संस्तारक छोड़कर विहार कर रहे हों उसी दिन या उसी समय दूसरे श्रमण-निर्ग्रन्थ आ जावें तो उसी पूर्व ग्रहीत आज्ञा से जितने भी समय रहना हो, शय्या-संस्तारक को ग्रहण करके रह सकते हैं / 29. यदि उपयोग में आने योग्य कोई अचित्त उपकरण उपाश्रय में हो तो उसका भी उसी पूर्व की आज्ञा से जितने काल रहना हो, उपयोग किया जा सकता है / विवेचन—जिस उपाश्रय में साधु मासकल्प या वर्षाकल्प तक की आज्ञा लेकर रहे हैं, वहां से वे जिस दिन विहार करें उसी दिन अन्य साधु उस उपाश्रय में ठहरने के लिए आ जावें तो वे 'यथालन्दकाल' तक उपाश्रय के स्वामी की आज्ञा लिए बिना ठहर सकते हैं, उनके लिए उतने काल तक पूर्व में रहने वाले साधुओं के द्वारा गृहीत अवग्रह ही माना जाएगा। पहले ठहरे हुए साधुओं के द्वारा ली गई आज्ञा में उनके सार्मिक साधुओं के ठहरने की आज्ञा निहित रहती है / अतः उनके साथ कोई भी साधु कभी भी आकर ठहर सकते हैं। उनके लिये पुनः आज्ञा लेने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है। उनके आने के बाद पहले ठहरे हुए साधु विहार कर जाएँ तो वे अपने कल्पानुसार वहां रुक सकते हैं। यथालन्दकाल का यहां 'यथायोग्य कल्पानुसार समय ऐसा अर्थ होता है। यदि पहले ठहरे हुए साधुओं ने विहार कर मालिक को मकान सुपुर्द कर दिया हो, उसके बाद कोई साधु पावें तो उन्हें पुनः आज्ञा लेना आवश्यक होता है। यदि मकान मालिक ने साधू-संख्या या मकान की सीमा बताकर ही आज्ञा दी हो तो उससे ज्यादा साधु आवें या मकान की सीमा से अधिक जगह का उपयोग करना हो तो पुनः प्राज्ञा लेना आवश्यक होता है। यदि पूर्वस्थित साधुओं की आज्ञा में ही ठहरा जाए तो उपाश्रय में रहे अतिरिक्त शय्या-संस्तारक आदि भी उसी पूर्वस्थितों की आज्ञा से ग्रहण किये जा सकते हैं और यथायोग्य समय तक उनका उपयोग कर सकते हैं।
