190 [बहत्कल्पसूत्र खोए हुए शय्या-संस्तारक के अन्वेषण करने का विधान 27. इस खलु निग्गंथाण वा निग्गंथीण वा पाडिहारिए वा सागारियसंतिए वा सेज्जासंथारए विप्पणसेज्जा, से य अणुगवेसियव्वे सिया। से य अणुगवेसमाणे लभेज्जा तस्सेव पडिदायब्वे सिया। से य अणुगवेसमाणे नो लभेज्जा, एवं से कप्पइ दोच्चंपि उग्गहं अणुण्णवेत्ता परिहार परिहरित्तए। 27. निर्ग्रन्थों और निर्ग्रन्थियों का प्रातिहारिक या सागारिक शय्या-संस्तारक यदि गुम हो जाए तो उसका उन्हें अन्वेषण करना चाहिए। अन्वेषण करने पर यदि मिल जाए तो उसी को दे देना चाहिए। अन्वेषण करने पर कदाचित् न मिले तो पुनः प्राज्ञा लेकर अन्य शय्या-संस्तारक ग्रहण करके उपयोग में लेना कल्पता है। विवेचन-नियुक्तिकार ने बताया है कि साधु गृहस्थ के घर से जो भी शय्या-संस्तारक आदि मांग कर लावे उसकी रक्षा के लिए सावधानी रखनी चाहिए और उपाश्रय को सूना नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए। गोचरी आदि के लिए बाहर जाना हो तो किसी न किसी को उपाश्रय की रक्षा के लिए नियुक्त करके जाना चाहिए। यदि कायिकी बाधा के निवारणार्थ इधर-उधर जाने पर या पठन-पाठनादि में चित्त लगा रहने पर कोई चुराकर ले जाए, अथवा गृहस्थ के घर से लाते समय या वापस देते समय 1 लात समय या वापस देते समय हाथ से छीनकर कोई भाग जाए या बाहर हाथ से छीनकर कोई भाग जाए या बाहर धूप में रखने पर कोई उठा ले जाए इत्यादि किसी भी कारण से शय्या-संस्तारक खो जाए तो साधु उसकी गवेषणा तत्काल करे / अन्वेषण करते हुए यदि ले जाने वाला मिल जावे तो उससे उसे देने के लिए कहे-'हे भद्र ! यह मैं किसी गृहस्थ से मांग कर लाया हूँ, आप यदि ले आये हैं तो हमें वापस देवें।" यदि उसके भाव नहीं देने के हों तो उसे धार्मिक वाक्य कहकर दे देने के लिए उत्साहित करे। यदि फिर भी न देना चाहे तो उसे पारितोषिक आदि दिलाने का आश्वासन दे / यदि वह राज्याधिकारी हो और मांगने पर भी न दे तो उसके लिए साधु यथोचित उपायों से जहां तक सम्भव हो उसे वापस लाने का प्रयत्न करे। यदि फिर भी वह न दे तो ऊपर के अधिकारियों तक सूचना भिजवाकर वापस मांगने का प्रयत्न करे। फिर भी न मिले या ले जाने वाले का पता न लगे तो जिस गहस्थ के र / के यहां से वह शय्यासंस्तारकादि लाया है उसको उसके अपहरण की बात कहे। यदि वह किसी प्रकार से उसे वापस ले आवे तो उसको दूसरी बार प्राज्ञा लेकर उपयोग में ले / यदि उसे भी वह न मिले तो दूसरे शय्या-संस्तारक की याचना करे / यदि वह साधु ऐसा यथोचित विवेक-अन्वेषण नहीं करता है तो प्रायश्चित्त का पात्र होता है।
