णवमं जोणिपयं नौवां योनिपद प्राथमिक * प्रज्ञापना सूत्र का यहं नौवां 'योनिपद' है। एक भव का आयुष्य पूर्ण होने पर जीव अपने साथ तैजस और कार्मण शरीर को लेकर जाता है। फिर जिस स्थान में जाकर वह नये जन्म के योग्य औदारिक आदि शरीर के पुद्गलों को ग्रहण करता है या गर्भरूप में उत्पन्न होता है, अथवा जन्म लेता है, उस उत्पत्तिस्थान को 'योनि' कहते हैं। योनि का प्रत्येक प्राणी के जीवन में बहुत बड़ा महत्त्व है, क्योंकि जिस योनि में प्राणी उत्पन्न होता है, वहाँ का वातावरण, प्रकृति, संस्कार, परम्परागत प्रवत्ति आदि का प्रभाव उस प्राणी पर पड़े बिना नहीं रहता। इसीलिए प्रस्तुत पद में श्री श्यामाचार्य ने योनि के विविध प्रकारों का उल्लेख करके उन-उन योनियों की अपेक्षा से जीवों का विचार प्रस्तुत किया है। प्रस्तुत पद में योनि का अनेक दृष्टियों से निरूपण किया गया है। सर्वप्रथम शीत, उष्ण और शीतोष्ण, इस प्रकार योनि के तीन भेद करके नैरयिकों से लेकर वैमानिकों तक में किस जीव की कौन-सी योनि है, इसकी प्ररूपणा की गई है, तदनन्तर इन तीनों योनियों वाले और अयोनिक जीवों में कौन किससे कितने अल्पाधिक हैं ? इसका विश्लेषण है / तत्पश्चात् सचित्त, अचित्त और मिश्र, इस प्रकार त्रिविधयोनियों का उल्लेख करके इसी तरह की चर्चा-विचारणा की है। तत्पश्चात् संवृत, विवृत और संवृत-विवृत यों योनि के तीन भेद करके पुन: पहले की तरह विचार किया गया है और अन्त में मनुष्यों की कूर्मोन्नता आदि तीन विशिष्ट योनियों का उल्लेख करके उनकी अधिकारिणी स्त्रियों का तथा उनमें जन्म लेने वाले मनुष्यों का प्रतिपादन किया है। कुल मिलाकर समस्त जीवों की योनियों के विषय में इस पद में सुन्दर चिन्तन प्रस्तुत किया गया है। * जो चौरासी लक्ष जीवयोनियां हैं, उनका मुख्य उद्गमस्रोत ये ही 9 प्रकार की सर्व प्राणियों की योनियां हैं / इन्हीं की शाखा-प्रशाखा के रूप में 84 लक्ष योनियां प्रस्फुटित हुई हैं। * समस्त मनुष्यों के उत्पत्तिस्थान का निर्देश करने वाली तीन विशिष्ट योनियां अन्त में बताई गई हैं—कूर्मोन्नता, शंखावर्ता और वंशीपत्रा। तीर्थंकरादि उत्तमपुरुष कर्मोन्नता योनि में जन्म धारण करते हैं, स्त्रीरत्न की शंखावर्ता योनि में अनेक जीव आते हैं, गर्भरूप में रहते हैं, उनके
