द्वितीय स्थानपद] [ 153 (ज्योति) से, दिव्य तेज से और दिव्य लेश्या (शारीरिकवर्ण-सौन्दर्य) से दसों दिशाओं को प्रकाशित एवं प्रभासित (सुशोभित) करते हुए, वे (असुरकुमारों के इन्द्र चमरेन्द्र और बलीन्द्र) वहाँ अपनेअपने लाखों भवनावासों का, अपने-अपने हजारों सामानिकों का, अपने-अपने त्रास्त्रिशक देवों का, अपने-अपने लोकपालों का, अपनी-अपनी अग्रमहिषियों का, अपनी-अपनी परिषदों का, अपनी-अपनी सेनाओं का, अपने-अपने सैन्याधिपतियों का, अपने-अपने हजारों आत्मरक्षक देवों का और अन्य बहुत-से भवनवासी देवों और देवियों का आधिपत्य, पौरपत्य (अग्रेसरत्व), स्वामित्व, भर्तृत्व, महत्तरकत्व (महानता) और प्राज्ञैश्वरत्व तथा सेनापत्य करते-कराते तथा पालन करते-कराते हुए महान् आहत (बड़े जोर से, अथवा अहत-व्याघातरहित) नाट्य, गीत, वादित, (बजाए गए) तंत्री, तल, ताल, श्रुटित और घनमृदंग आदि से उत्पत्र महाध्वनि के साथ दिव्य उपभोग्य भोगों को भोगते हुए रहते हैं। 179. [1] कहि णं भंते ! दाहिणिल्लाणं असुरकुमाराणं देवाणं पज्जत्ताऽपज्जत्ताणं ठाणा पण्णता ? कहि णं भंते ! दाहिणिल्ला असुरकुमारा देवा परिवसंति ? गोयमा ! जंबुद्दीवे दीवे मंदरस्स पब्वतस्स दाहिणेणं इमोसे रयणप्पभाए पुढवीए असीउत्तरजोयणसतसहस्सबाहल्लाए उरि एगं जोयणसहस्स प्रोगाहित्ता हेढा वेगं जोयणसहस्सं वज्जित्ता माझे अट्ठहत्तरे जोयणसतसहस्से, एत्थ णं दाहिणिल्लाणं असुरकुमाराणं देवाणं चोत्तीस भवणावाससतसहस्सा भवंतीति मक्खातं / ते णं भवणा बाहिं बट्टा अंतो चउरंसा, सो च्चेव वष्णमो' जाव पडिरूवा / एत्थ णं दाहिणिल्लाणं असुरकुमाराणं देवाणं पज्जत्ताऽपज्जत्ताणं ठाणा पण्णत्ता / तिसु वि लोगस्स असंखेज्जइभागे / तत्थ णं बहवे दाहिणिल्ला असुरकुमारा देवा य देवीप्रो य परिवसंति / काला लोहियवखा तहेवजाव भुजमाणा विहरति / एतेसि णं तहेव तायत्तीसगलोगपाला भवंति / एवं सम्वत्थ भाणितन्वं भवणवासीणं / [179-1 प्र.] भगवन् ! पर्याप्त एवं अपर्याप्त दाक्षिणात्य (दक्षिण दिशा वाले) असुरकुमार देवों के स्थान कहाँ कहे गए हैं ? भगवन् दाक्षिणात्य असुरकुमार देव कहाँ निवास करते हैं ? [176-1 उ.] गौतम ! जम्बूद्वीप नामक द्वीप में सुमेरुपर्वत के दक्षिण में, एक लाख अस्सी हजार योजन मोटी इस रत्नाप्रभापृथ्वी के ऊपर के एक हजार योजन अवगाहन करके तथा नीचे के एक हजार योजन छोड़ कर, बीच में जो एक लाख अठहत्तर हजार योजन क्षेत्र है, वहाँ दाक्षिणात्य असुरकुमार देवों के एक लाख चौंतीस हजार भवनावास हैं, ऐसा कहा गया है। वे (दाक्षिणात्य असुरकुमारों के) भवन (भवनावास) बाहर से गोल और अन्दर से चौरस (चौकोर) हैं, शेष समस्त वर्णन यावत् 'प्रतिरूप हैं', तक सूत्र 178-1 के अनुसार समझना चाहिए। यहाँ पर्याप्त और अपर्याप्त दाक्षिणात्य असुरकुमार देवों के स्थान कहे गए हैं, जो कि तीनों अपेक्षाओं 1.
