138 ] [प्रज्ञापनासूत्र ते णं गरगा अंतो वट्टा बाहि चउरंसा अहे खुरप्पसंठाणसंठिता णिच्चंधयारतमसा ववगयगहचंद-सूर-णक्खत्तजोइसपहा मेद वसा-पूयपडल-रुहिर-मंसचिक्खिल्ललित्ताणुलेवणतला असुई वीसा परमदुन्भिगंधा काऊअगणिवण्णाभा कक्खडफासा दुरहियासा असुभा नरगा असुभा नरगेसु वेयणाओ, एत्थ णं सक्करप्पभापुढविनेरइयाणं पज्जत्ताऽपज्जत्ताणं ठाणा पण्णत्ता।। उववाएणं लोयस्स असंखेज्जइभागे, समुग्घाएणं लोयस्स असंखेज्जइभागे, सटाणेणं लोयस्स असंखेज्जहभागे। तत्थ णं बहवे सक्करप्पभापुढविणेरइया परिवति, काला कालोभासा गंभीरलोमहरिसा भीमा उत्तासणगा परमकिण्हा वणेणं पण्णत्ता समणाउसो ! ते णं णिच्च भीता णिच्चं तत्था णिच्चं तसिया णिच्चं उविग्गा णिच्चं परममसुहं संबद्ध नरगभयं पच्चणुभवमाणा विहरति / [166 प्र.] भगवन् ! शर्कराप्रभापृथ्वी के पर्याप्त और अपर्याप्त नैरयिकों के स्थान कहाँ कहे गए हैं ? शर्कराप्रभापृथ्वी के नैरयिक कहाँ निवास करते हैं ? [166 उ.] गौतम ! एक लाख बत्तीस हजार योजन मोटी शर्कराप्रभा पृथ्वी के ऊपर एक हजार योजन अवगाहन करने पर तथा नीचे भी एक हजार योजन छोड़ कर, मध्य में एक लाख, तीस हजार योजन (जगह) में, शर्कराप्रभापृथ्वी के नैरयिकों के पच्चीस लाख नारकावास हैं, ऐसा कहा गया है। वे नरक अन्दर से गोल, बाहर से चौकोर और नीचे से छुरे के प्राकार से युक्त (संस्थित) हैं। वे नित्य घने अन्धकार से ग्रस्त, ग्रह, चन्द्र, सर्य, नक्षत्र आदि ज्योतिष्कों की प्रभा से रहित हैं। उनके तलभाग मेद, चर्बी, मवाद के पटल, रुधिर और मांस के कीचड़ के लेप से लिप्त होते हैं / (अतएव वे) अशुचि, बीभत्स (घृणास्पद) हैं, अथवा अपक्व गन्ध वाले हैं, घोर दुर्गन्ध से युक्त हैं, कापोत अग्नि के वर्ण-सदृश (धोंकी जाती हुई लोहाग्नि के समान नीली आभा वाले) हैं; उनका स्पर्श बड़ा कठोर होता है, (अतएव वे) नरक दुःसह और अशुभ हैं। नरकों की वेदनाएँ अशुभ हैं / इन (पूर्वोक्त नरकावासों) में शर्कराप्रभापृथ्वी के पर्याप्त और अपर्याप्त नैरयिकों के (स्व-) स्थान कहे गए हैं / उपपात की अपेक्षा से (वे) लोक के असंख्यातवें भाग में, समुद्घात की अपेक्षा से लोक के असंख्यातवें भाग में (और) स्वस्थान की अपेक्षा से (भी) लोक के असंख्यातवें भाग में हैं / उनमें बहुत-से शर्कराप्रभापृथ्वी के नारक निवास करते हैं / (वे) काले, काली आभा वाले, अत्यन्त गम्भीर रोमाञ्चयुक्त, भयंकर, उत्कट त्रासजनक, तथा वर्ण से अत्यन्त काले कहे गए हैं। हे आयुष्मन् श्रमणो! वे (नारक) वहाँ नित्य भयभीत, नित्य त्रस्त, तथा (परमाधार्मिकों द्वारा) सदैव त्रासित, सदा उद्विग्न (घबराए हुए) और नित्य अत्यन्त अशुभ तत्सम्बद्ध नरक के भय का प्रत्यक्ष अनुभव करते हुए रहते हैं। 170. कहि गं भंते ! वालुयप्पमापुढविनेरइयाणं पज्जत्ताऽपज्जत्ताणं ठाणा पण्णता ? गोयमा ! बालुयप्पभाए पुढवीए अट्ठावीसुत्तरजोयणसतसहस्सबाहल्लाए उरि एगं जोयणसहस्सं
