Above this Ratnapraba-pṛthvī, which is one hundred and eighty thousand yojanas thick, after descending one thousand yojanas, and leaving one thousand yojanas below, in the middle, in one hundred and seventy-eight thousand yojanas, there are thirty million Nairyika abodes of Ratnapraba-pṛthvī. It is said. Those hells are round inside, square outside, and shaped like a knife at the bottom. They are always enveloped in dense darkness, devoid of the light of planets, moon, sun, stars, and other celestial bodies. Their bottom is covered with a layer of fat, grease, pus, blood, and a coating of flesh mud.
