आगम साहित्य के वयोवृद्ध विद्वान् पं. श्री बेचरदासजी दोशी ने आगमसम्पादन के क्षेत्र में बहुमूल्य योग प्रदान किया। खेद है कि वे अब हमारे बीच नहीं रहे। विश्रुत-मनीषी श्री दलसुखभाई मालवणिया जैसे चिन्तनशील प्रज्ञापुरुष आगमों के आधुनिक सम्पादन की दिशा में स्वयं भी कार्य कर रहे हैं तथा अनेक विद्वानों का मार्ग-दर्शन कर रहे हैं / यह प्रसन्नता का विषय है / इस सब कार्य-शैली पर विहंगम अवलोकन करने के पश्चात् मेरे मन में एक संकल्प उठा। आज प्रायः सभी विद्वानों की कार्यशैली काफी भिन्नता लिये हुए है / कहीं आगमों का मूल पाठ मात्र प्रकाशित किया जा रहा है तो कहीं आगमों की विशाल व्याख्यायें की जा रही हैं। एक पाठक के लिये दर्बोध है तो दूसरी जटिल / सामान्य पाठक को सरलतापूर्वक प्रागमज्ञान प्राप्त हो सके, एतदर्थ म मार्ग का अनुसरण आवश्यक है। आगमों का एक ऐसा संस्करण होना चाहिये जो सरल हो, सुबोध हो, संक्षिप्त और प्रामाणिक हो / मेरे स्वर्गीय गुरुदेव ऐसा ही आगम-संस्करण चाहते थे। इसी भावना को लक्ष्य में रखकर मैंने 5-6 वर्ष पूर्व इस विषय की चर्चा प्रारम्भ की थी, सुदीर्घ चिन्तन के पश्चात् वि. सं. 2036 वैशाख शुक्ला दशमी, भगवान् महावीर कैवल्यदिवस को यह दृढ निश्चय घोषित कर दिया और पागमबत्तीसी का सम्पादन-विवेचन कार्य प्रारम्भ भी। इस साहसिक निर्णय में गुरुभ्राता शासनसेवी स्वामी श्री ब्रजलाल जी म. की प्रेरणा/प्रोत्साहन तथा मार्गदर्शन मेरा प्रमुख सम्बल बना है। साथ ही अनेक मुनिवरों तथा सद्गृहस्थों का भक्ति-भाव भरा सहयोग प्राप्त हुआ है, जिनका नामोल्लेख किये बिना मन सन्तुष्ट नहीं होगा। आगम अनुयोग शैली के सम्पादक मुनि श्री कन्हैयालालजी म. “कमल", प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार श्री देवेन्द्रमुनिजी म. शास्त्री, आचार्य श्री आत्मारामजी म. के प्रशिष्य भण्डारी श्री पदमचन्दजी म. एवं प्रवचनभूषण श्री अमरमुनिजी, विद्वद्रत्न श्री ज्ञानमुनिजी म.; स्व. विदुषी महासती श्री उज्ज्वलकुवरजी म. की सुशिष्याएं महासती दिव्यप्रभाजी, एम. ए., पी-एच. डी.; महासती मुक्तिप्रभाजी तथा विदुषी महासती श्री उमरावकुंवरजी म. 'अर्चना', विश्रुत विद्वान् श्री दलसुखभाई मालवणिया, सुख्यात विद्वान् पं. श्री शोभाचन्द्र जी भारिल्ल, स्व. पं. श्री हीरालालजी शास्त्री, डा. छगनलालजी शास्त्री एवं श्रीचन्दजी सुराणा "सरस” आदि मनीषियों का सहयोग प्रागमसम्पादन के इस दुरूह कार्य को सरल बना सका है। इन सभी के प्रति मन आदर व कृतज्ञ भावना से अभिभूत है / इसी के साथ सेवा-सहयोग की दृष्टि से सेवाभावी शिष्य मुनि विनयकुमार एवं महेन्द्र मुनि का साहचर्य-सहयोग, महासती श्री कानकुंवरजी, महासती श्री झणकारकंवरजी का सेवाभाव सदा प्रेरणा देता रहा है। इस प्रसंग पर इस प्रेरणा-स्रोत स्व. श्रावक चिमनसिंहजी लोढ़ा, स्व. श्री पुखराजजो सिसोदिया का स्मरण भी सहजरूप में हो पाता है जिनके अथक प्रेरणा-प्रयत्नों से प्रागमसमिति अपने कार्य में इतनी शीघ्र सफल हो रही है / अल्पकाल में ही पन्द्रह आगम ग्रन्थों का मुद्रण तथा करीब 15-20 अ.
