आचार्यसमा श्री प्रात्मारामजी महाराज [जीवन और साधना को एक संक्षिप्त झांको] हजारों जीव प्रतिक्षण जन्म लेते हैं और मनुष्य का शरीर धारण करके इस धरातल पर अवतरित होते रहते हैं, परन्तु, सबकी जयन्तियाँ नहीं मनाई जाती / ना ही सबको श्रद्धा और सम्मान की दृष्टि से देखा जाता है / आदर उन्हीं को सम्प्राप्त होता है जो अपने लिये नहीं, समाज के लिये जीते हैं / जन-जीवन के उत्थान, निर्माण एवं कल्याण के लिए जो अपनी समस्त जीवन-शक्तियां समर्पित कर देते हैं / वे स्वयं जहां प्रात्म-कल्याण में जागरूक रहते हैं, वहां वे दूसरों की हित-साधना का भी पूरा-पूरा ध्यान रखते हैं। ___आचार्य-सम्राट् पूज्य श्री आत्मारामजी महाराज उन महापुरुषों में से एक थे जिनका जीवन सदा लोकोपकारी जीवन रहा है / जीवन के 78 वर्षों तक वे अहिंसा, संयम और तप के दीप जगाते रहे। इनकी जीवन-सरिता जिधर से गुजर गई वहीं पर एक अद्भुत सुषमा छा गई / आज भी उनकी वाणी तथा साहित्य जन-जीवन के लिये प्रकाश-स्तम्भ का काम दे रही है। जन्मकाल प्राचार्य-सम्राट् पूज्य श्री प्रात्मारामजी महाराज वि. सं. 1936 भादों सुदी द्वादशी को पंजाब-प्रान्तीय राहों के प्रसिद्ध व्यापारी सेठ मंशारामजी चोपड़ा के घर पैदा हुए / माताजी का नाम परमेश्वरी देवी था। सोने जैसे सुन्दर लाल को पाकर माता-पिता फूले नहीं समा रहे थे। पुण्यवान सन्तति भी जन्म-जन्मान्तर के पुण्य से ही प्राप्त हुआ करती है। संकट की घड़ियाँ प्राचार्य श्री का बचपन बड़ा ही संकटमय रहा। असातावेदनीय कर्म के प्रहारों ने इन्हें बुरी तरह से परेशान कर दिया था। दो वर्ष की स्वल्प आयु में आपकी माताजी का स्वर्गवास हो गया। आठ वर्ष की आयु में पिता परलोकवासी हो गए। मात्र एक दादी थी जिसकी देख-रेख में आपका शैशव काल गुजर रहा था। दो वर्षों के अनन्तर उनका भी देहान्त हो गया। इस तरह प्राचार्य देव का बचपन संकटों की भीषणता ने बुरी तरह से आक्रान्त कर लिया था। कर्म बड़े बलवान होते हैं। इनसे कौन बच सकता है ? संयम-साधना की राह पर माता-पिता और दादी के वियोग ने प्राचार्य-देव के मानस को संसार से बिल्कुल उपरत कर दिया था। संसार की अनित्यता साकार हो कर आपके सामने नाचने लगी थी / फलतः आत्म-साधना और प्रभु-भक्ति का महापथ ही आपको सच्चिदानन्ददायी अनुभव हुआ था। अन्त में 11 वर्ष की स्वल्प आयु में आप संवत् 1651 को बनूड में महामहिम गुरुदेव पूज्य श्री स्वामी शालिगरामजी महाराज के चरणों में दीक्षित हो गए।
