36] [जीवाजीवाभिगमसूत्र वे उन आहार्यमाण पुद्गलों के पुराने (पहले के) वर्णगुणों को यावत् स्पर्शगुणों को बदलकर, हटाकर, झटककर, विध्वंसकर उनमें दूसरे अपूर्व वर्णगुण, गन्धगुण, रसगुण और स्पर्शगुणों को उत्पन्न करके प्रात्मशरीरावगाढ पुद्गलों को सब प्रात्मप्रदेशों से ग्रहण करते हैं / 16. ते गं भंते ! जीवा कओहिंतो उववज्जति ? कि नेरइयतिरिक्खमणुस्सदेवेहितो उववज्जति ? गोयमा ! नो नेरइएहितो उववज्जंति, तिरिक्खजोणिएहितो उपवज्जति, मणुस्सेहितो उववज्जंति, नो देवेहितो उववज्जंति, तिरिक्खजोणियपज्जत्तापज्जतेंहितो असंखेज्जवासाउयवज्जेहिंतो उववज्जात, मणुस्सेहितो अकम्मभूमिग-असंखेज्जवासाउयवज्जेहितो उववज्जति / वक्कंति-उववाओ भाणियव्यो। [19] भगवन् ! वे जीव कहाँ से आकर उत्पन्न होते हैं ? / क्या वे नरक से, तिर्यञ्च से, मनुष्य से या देव से आकर उत्पन्न होते हैं ? गौतम ! वे नरक से पाकर उत्पन्न नहीं होते, तिर्यञ्च से पाकर उत्पन्न होते हैं, मनुष्य से पाकर उत्पन्न होते हैं, देव से पाकर उत्पन्न नहीं होते हैं। तिर्यञ्च से उत्पन्न होते हैं तो असंख्यात्तवर्षायु वाले भोगभूमि के तिर्यञ्चों को छोड़कर शेष पर्याप्त-अपर्याप्त तिर्यंचों से आकर उत्पन्न होते हैं। __ मनुष्यों से उत्पन्न होते हैं तो अकर्मभूमि वाले और असंख्यात वर्षों की आयु वालों को छोड़कर शेष मनुष्यों से आकर उत्पन्न होते हैं / इस प्रकार (प्रज्ञापना के अनुसार) व्युत्क्रान्ति-उपपात कहना चाहिए / [20] तेसि णं भंते ! जीवाणं केवइयं कालं ठिई पण्णत्ता ? गोयमा ! जहन्नेणं अंतोमुहत्तं उक्कोसेण वि अंतोमुहत्तं / [20] उन जीवों की स्थिति कितने काल की कही गई है ? गौतम ! जघन्य से अन्तर्मुहूर्त और उत्कृष्ट से भी अन्तर्मुहूर्त उनकी स्थिति है। [21] ते णं भंते ! जीवा मारणंतियसमुग्घाएणं किं समोहया मरंप्ति असमोहया मरंति ? गोयमा ! समोहयावि मरंति असमोहया वि मरंति / [21] वे जीव मारणान्तिक समुद्घात से समवहत होकर मरते हैं या असमवहत होकर ? गौतम ! वे मारणान्तिक समुद्धात से समवहत होकर भी मरते हैं और असमवहत होकर भी मरते हैं।
