समयक्षेत्र (मनुष्यक्षेत्र) का वर्णन] उवयक्खयखओवसमोवसमा जंच कम्मणो भणिया। दव्वं खेतं कालं भावं भवं च संपप्प // 1 // अर्थात्-कर्मों के उदय, क्षय, क्षयोपशम और उपशम में द्रव्य, क्षेत्र, काल, भाव और भव निमित्त होते हैं। प्रायः शुभवेद्य कर्मों के विपाक में शुभ द्रव्य-क्षेत्रादि सामग्री हेतुरूप होती है और अशुभवेद्य कर्मो के विपाक में अशुभ द्रव्य-क्षेत्र आदि सामग्री कारणभूत होती है। इसलिए जब जिन व्यक्तियों के जन्मनक्षत्रादि के अनुकूल चन्द्रादि की गति होती है तब उन व्यक्तियों के प्रायः शुभवेद्य कर्म तथाविध विपाक सामग्री पाकर उदय में आते हैं, जिनके कारण शरीर नीरोगता, धनवृद्धि, वैरोपशमन, प्रियसम्प्रयोग, कार्यसिद्धि आदि होने से सुख प्राप्त होता है / अतएव परम विवेकी बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति किसी भी कार्य को शुभ तिथि नक्षत्रादि में प्रारम्भ करते हैं. चाहे जब नहीं। तीर्थंकरों की भी आज्ञा है कि प्रवाजन (दीक्षा) आदि कार्य शुभक्षेत्र में, शुभ दिशा में मुख रखकर, शुभ तिथि नक्षत्र आदि मुहूर्त में करना चाहिए, जैसा कि पंचवस्तुक ग्रन्थ में कहा है एसा जिणाण आणा खेताइया य कम्मुणो भणिया / उदयाइकारणं जं तम्हा सव्वत्थ जइयव्वं // 1 // अतएव छद्मस्थों को शुभ क्षेत्र और शुभ मुहूर्त का ध्यान रखना चाहिए। जो अतिशय ज्ञानी भगवन्त हैं वे तो अतिशय के बल से ही सविघ्नता या निर्विघ्नता को जान लेते हैं अतएव वे शुभ तिथिमुहूर्तादि की अपेक्षा नहीं रखते / छद्मस्थों के लिए वैसा करना ठीक नहीं है। जो लोग यह कहते हैं कि भगवान् ने अपने पास प्रव्रज्या के लिए आये हुए व्यक्तियों के लिए शुभ तिथि आदि नहीं देखी; उनका यह कथन ठीक नहीं है / भगवान् तो अतिशय ज्ञानी हैं। उनका अनुकरण छद्मस्थों के लिए उचित नहीं है / अतएव शुभ तिथि आदि शुभ मुहूर्त में कार्यारम्भ करना उचित है। उक्त रीति से ग्रहादि की गति मनुष्यों के सुख-दुःख में निमित्तभूत होती है। 178.
