" सम्पावन के विषय में प्रस्तुत संस्करण के मूल पाठ का मुख्यतः प्राधार सेठ श्री देवचन्द लालभाई पुस्तकोद्धार फण्ड सरत से प्रकाशित वृत्तिसहित जीवाभिगसूत्र का मूल पाठ है। परन्तु अनेक स्थलों पर उस संस्करण में प्रकाशित मूल पाठ में वृत्तिकार द्वारा मान्य पाठ में अन्तर भी है। कई स्थलों में पाये जाने वाले इस भेद से ऐसा लगता है कि वृत्तिकार के सामने कोई अन्य प्रति (आदर्श) रही हो / अतएव अनेक स्थलों पर हमने वृत्तिकार-सम्मत पाठ अधिक संमत उसे मूलपाठ में स्थान दिया है। ऐसे पाठान्तरों का उल्लेख स्थान-स्थान पर फुटनोट (टिप्पण) में किया गया है। स्वयं वृत्तिकार ने इस बात का उल्लेख किया है कि इस प्रागम के सूत्रपाठों में कई स्थानों पर भिन्नता दृष्टिगोचर होती है। यह स्मरण रखने योग्य है कि यह भिन्नता शब्दों को लेकर है, तात्पर्य में कोई अंतर नहीं है। तात्त्विक अंतर न होकर वर्णनात्मक स्थलों में शब्दों का और उनके क्रम का अन्तर दृष्टिगोचर होता है। ऐसे स्थलों पर हमने टीकाकारसम्मत पाठ को मूल में स्थान दिया है। प्रस्तुत पागम के अनुवाद और विवेचन में भी मुख्य प्राधार आचार्य श्री मलयागिरि की वृत्ति हो रही है। हमने अधिक से अधिक यह प्रयास किया है कि इस तात्त्विक प्रागम की सैद्धान्तिक विषय-वस्तु को अधिक से अधिक स्पष्ट रूप में जिज्ञासुओं के समक्ष प्रस्तुत किया जाये। अतएव वृत्ति में स्पष्ट की गई प्रायः सभी मुख्य-मुख्य बातें हमने विवेचन में दी हैं, ताकि संस्कृत भाषा को न समझने वाले जिज्ञासुजन भी उनसे लाभान्वित हो सकें। मैं समझता हूँ कि मेरे इस प्रयास से हिन्दीभाषी जिज्ञासुओं को वे सब तात्त्विक बातें समझने को मिल सकेगी जो वृत्ति में संस्कृत भाषा में समझायी गई हैं। इस दृष्टि से इस संस्करण की उपयोगिता बहुत बढ़ जाती है। जिज्ञासुजन यदि इससे लाभान्वित होंगे तो मैं अपने प्रयास को सार्थक समझगा। अन्त में मैं स्वयं को धन्य मानता हूँ कि मुझे प्रस्तुत आगम को तैयार करने का सुअवसर मिला। प्रागम प्रकाशन समिति, ब्यावर की ओर से मुझे प्रस्तुत जीवाभिगसत्र का सम्पादन करने का दायित्व सौंपा गया। सत्र की गम्भीरता को देखते हुए मुझे अपनी योग्यता के विषय में संकोच अवश्य पैदा हुआ। परन्तु श्रुतभक्ति से प्रेरित होकर मैंने यह दायित्व स्वीकार कर लिया और उसके निष्पादन में निष्ठा के साथ जुड़ गया / जैसा भी मुझ से बन पड़ा, वह इस रूप में पाठकों के सम्मुख प्रस्तुत है। कृतज्ञता ज्ञापन श्रुतसेवा के मेरे इस प्रयास में श्रद्धेय गुरुवर्य उपाध्याय--श्री पुष्कर मुनिजी म., श्रमणसंघ के उपाचार्यश्री सुप्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार गुरुवर्य श्री देवेन्द्रमुनिजी म. का मार्गदर्शन एवं पण्डित श्री रमेशमुनिजी म., श्री सुरेन्द्र मुनिजी, विदुषी महासती डॉ. श्री दिव्यप्रभाजी, श्री अनुपमाजी बी. ए. प्रादि का सहयोग प्राप्त हुआ है, जिसके फलस्वरूप में यह भगीरथ कार्यसम्पन्न करने में सफल हो सका हूँ। प्रागम सम्पादन करते समय पं. श्री वसन्तीलालजी नलवाया, रतलाम का सहयोग मिला, उसे भी विस्मृत नहीं कर सकता। यदि मेरे इस प्रयास से जिज्ञासु प्रागमरसिकों को तात्विक लाभ पहुंचेगा तो मैं अपने प्रयास को सार्थक समझगा। अन्त में मैं यह शुभ कामना करता हूँ कि जिनेश्वर देवों द्वारा प्ररूपित तत्त्वों के प्रति जन-जन के मन में श्रद्धा, विश्वास और रुचि उत्पन्न हो, ताकि वे ज्ञान-दर्शन-चारित्र रूप रत्नत्रय की प्राराधना करके मुक्तिपथ के पथिक बन सकें। श्री अमर जैन आगम भण्डार ___-राजेन्द्रमुनि पीपाड़सिटी, 11 सितम्बर 91 एम. ए., पी-एच. डी.
