246] [जीवाजीवामिगमसूत्र उष्णवेदना भी है। नरकावासों के भेद से कतिपय नारक शीतवेदना वेदते हैं और कतिपय नारक उष्णवेदना वेदते हैं / उष्णवेदना वाले नारक जीव अधिक हैं और शीतवेदना वाले कम हैं। धूमप्रभा में भी दोनों प्रकार की वेदनाएं हैं परन्तु वहां शीतवेदना वाले अधिक हैं और उष्णवेदना वाले कम हैं। छठी नरक में शीत वेदना है। क्योंकि वहाँ के नारक उष्णयोनिक है। योनिस्थानों को छोड़कर सारा क्षेत्र अत्यन्त बर्फ की तरह ठंढा है, अतएव उन्हें शीतवेदनम भोगनी पड़ती है / सातवीं पृथ्वी में अतिप्रबल शीतवेदना है। भवानुभववेदना-रत्नप्रभा आदि नरक भूमियों के नारक जीव क्षेत्रस्वभाव से ही अत्यन्त गाढ अन्धकार से व्याप्त भूमि को देखकर नित्य डरे हुए और शंकित रहते हैं। परमाधामिक देव तथा परस्परोदीरित दुःखसंघात से नित्य त्रस्त रहते हैं। वे नित्य दुःखानुभव के कारण उद्विग्न रहते हैं, वे नित्य उपद्रवग्रस्त होने से तनिक भी साता नहीं पाते हैं, वे सदा अशुभ, अशुभ रूप से अनन्यसदृश तथा अशुभरूप से निरन्तर उपचित नरकभव का अनुभव करते हैं / यह वक्तव्यता सब नरकों सप्तमपृथ्वी के अप्रतिष्ठान नरकावास में अत्यन्त क्रूर कर्म करने वाले जीव ही उत्पन्न होते हैं, अन्य नहीं / उदाहरण के रूप में यहां पांच महापुरुषों का उल्लेख किया गया है जो अत्यन्त उत्कृष्ट स्थिति के और उत्कृष्ट अनुभाग का बन्ध कराने वाले क्रूर कर्मों को बांधकर सप्तमपृथ्वी के प्रतिष्ठान नरकावास में उत्पन्न हुए हैं। वे हैं-१. जमदग्नि का पुत्र परशुराम, 2. लच्छति पुत्र दृढायु (टीकाकार के अनुसार छातीसुत दाढादाल), 3. उपरिचर वसुराजा, 4. कोरव्य गोत्रवाला अष्टमचक्रवर्ती सुभूम और 5. चुलनीसुत ब्रह्मदत्त चक्रवर्ती / / ऐसा कहा जाता है कि परशुराम ने 21 बार क्षत्रियों का नाश करके क्षत्रियहीन पृथ्वी कर दी थी। सुभम प्राठवां चकवर्ती हा. इसने सात बार पृथ्वी को ब्राह्मणरहित किया। ऐसी किंवदन्ती है। तीव्र क्रूर अध्यवसायों से ही ऐसा हो सकता है। ब्रह्मदत्त चक्रवर्ती अत्यन्त भोगासक्त था तथा उसके अध्यवसाय अत्यन्त क्रूर थे। वसु राजा उचरिचर के विषय में प्रसिद्ध है कि वह बहुत सत्यवादी था और इस कारण देवताधिष्ठित स्फटिक सिंहासन पर बैठा हुआ भी वह स्फटिक सिंहासन जनता को दृष्टिगोचर न होने से ऐसी बात फैल गई थी कि राजा प्राण जाने पर भी असत्य भाषण नहीं इसके प्रताप से वह भूमि से ऊपर उठकर अधर में स्थित होता है। एक बार पर्वत और नारद में वेद में आये हुए 'अज' शब्द के विषय में विवाद हुआ। पर्वत अज का अर्थ बकरा करता था और उससे यज्ञ करने का हिंसामय प्रतिपादन करता था। जबकि सम्यग्दृष्टि नारद 'अज' का अर्थ 'न उगने वाला दोनों न्याय के लिए वस राजा के पास आये। किन्हीं कारणों से वस राजा ने पर्वत का पक्ष लिया, हिंसामय यज्ञ को प्रोत्साहित किया / इस झूठ के कारण देवता कुपित हुप्रा और उसे चपेटा मार कर सिंहासन से गिरा दिया। वह रौद्रध्यान और क्रूर परिणामों से मरकर सप्तम पृथ्वी के अप्रतिष्ठान नरकावास में उत्पन्न हुआ। उक्त पंच महापुरुष और ऐसे ही अन्य अत्यन्त क्रूरकर्मा प्राणी सर्वोत्कृष्ट पाप कर्म का उपार्जन करके वहाँ उत्पन्न हुए और अशुभ वर्ण-गंध-स्पर्शादिक की उज्ज्वल, विपुल और दुःसह्य वेदना को भोग रहे हैं।
