तृतीय प्रतिपति : एक-अनेक-विकुर्वगा] [245 गौतम ! वे वहाँ नित्य डरे हुए रहते हैं, नित्य त्रसित रहते हैं, नित्य भूखे रहते हैं, नित्य उद्विग्न रहते हैं, नित्य उपद्रवग्रस्त रहते हैं, नित्य वधिक के समान ऋर परिणाम वाले, नित्य परम अशुभ, अनन्य सदृश अशुभ और निरन्तर अशुभ रूप से उपचित नरकभव का अनुभव करते हैं / इसी प्रकार सप्तम पृथ्वी तक कहना चाहिए। सप्तम पृथ्वी में पांच अनुत्तर बड़े से बड़े महानरक कहे गये हैं, यथा-काल, महाकाल, रोरव, महारौरव और अप्रतिष्ठान / वहाँ ये पांच महापुरुष सर्वोत्कृष्ट हिंसादि पाप कर्मों को एकत्रित कर मृत्यु के समय मर कर अप्रतिष्ठान नरक में नैरयिक के रूप में उत्पन्न हुए,-१. जमदग्नि का पुत्र परशुराम, 2. लच्छतिपुत्र दृढायु, 3. उपरिचर वसुराज, 4. कौरव्य सुभूम और 5 चुलणिसुत ब्रह्मदत्त / ये वहां नैरयिक के रूप में उत्पन्न हुए जो वर्ण से काले, काली छवि वाले यावत् अत्यन्त काले हैं, इत्यादि वर्णन करना चाहिए यावत् वे वहाँ अत्यन्त जाज्वल्यमान विपुल एवं यावत् असह्य वेदना को वेदते हैं। विवेचन-प्रस्तुत सूत्र में नारक जीवों को भूख-प्यास संबंधी वेदना, एक-अनेक शस्त्रों की विकुर्वणा कर परस्पर दी गई वेदना, शीतवेदना, उष्णवेदना और नरकभव से होने वाली वेदनाओं का वर्णन किया है। मुखवेदना-नारक जीवों की भूख-प्यास को असत् कल्पना के द्वारा व्यक्त करते हुए कहा गया है कि यदि किसी एक नारक जीव के मुख में सर्व खाद्य पुद्गलों को डाल दिया जाय और सारे समुद्रों का पानी पिला दिया जाय तो भी न तो उसकी भूख शान्त होगी और न प्यास ही बुझ पायगी / इसकी थोड़ी-सी कल्पना हमें इस मनुष्यलोक में प्रबलतम भस्मक व्याधि वाले पुरुष की दशा से प्रा सकती हैं / ऐसी तीव्र भूख-प्यास की वेदना वे नारक जीव सहने को बाध्य हैं। शस्त्रविकुर्वणवेदना-वे नारक जीव एक प्रकार के और बहुत प्रकार के नाना शस्त्रों की विकुर्वणा करके एक दूसरे नारक जीव पर तीव्र प्रहार करते हैं। वे परस्पर में तीव्र वेदना देते हैं, इसलिए परस्परोदीरित वेदना वाले हैं। पाठ में आया हुआ 'पुहुत्तं' शब्द बहुत्व का वाचक है। इस विक्रिया द्वारा वे दूसरों को उज्ज्वल, विपुल, प्रगाढ, कर्कश, कटुक, परुष, निष्ठुर, चण्ड, तीव्र, दुःखरूप, दुर्लध्य और दुःसह्य वेदना देते हैं / यह विकुर्वणा रूप वेदना पांचवीं नरक तक समझना चाहिए / छठी और सातवीं नरक में तो नारक जीव वज्रमय मुखवाले लाल और गोबर के कीड़े के समान, बड़े कुन्थुत्रों का रूप बनाकर एक दूसरे के शरीर पर चढ़ते हैं और काट-काट कर दूसरे नारक के शरीर में अन्दर तक प्रवेश करके इक्षु का कीड़ा जैसे इक्षु को खा-खाकर छलनी कर देता है, वैसे वे नारक के शरीर को छलनी करके वेदना पहुँचाते हैं। शीतादि वेदना-रत्नप्रभापृथ्वी के नारक शीतवेदना नहीं वेदते हैं, उष्णवेदना वेदते हैं, शीतोष्णवेदना नही वेदते हैं। वे नारक शीतयोनि वाले हैं। योनिस्थान के अतिरिक्त समस्त भूमि खैर के अंगारों से भी अधिक प्रतप्त है, अतएव वे नारक उष्णवेदना वेदते हैं; शीतवेदना नहीं। शीतोष्णस्वभाव वाली सम्मिलित वेदना का नरकों में मूल से ही अभाव है। शर्कराप्रभा और बालुकाप्रभा में भी उष्णवेदना ही है / पंकप्रभा में शीतवेदना भी और
