प्रथम प्रतिपत्ति :तिर्यक् पंचेन्द्रियों का वर्णन] वेदद्वार-नारक जीव नपुंसक ही होते हैं। पर्याप्तिद्वार-इनमें छह पर्याप्तियाँ और छह अपर्याप्तियाँ होती हैं। भाषा और मन की एकत्व विवक्षा से वृत्तिकार ने पांच पर्याप्तियां और पांच अपर्याप्तियाँ कही हैं। दृष्टिद्वार-नारक जीव तीनों दृष्टि वाले होते हैं-१. मिथ्यादृष्टि, सम्यग्दृष्टि और मिश्रदृष्टि / दर्शनद्वार-इनमें चक्षुदर्शन, अचक्षुदर्शन और अवधिदर्शन यों तीन दर्शन पाये जाते हैं। ज्ञानद्वार—ये ज्ञानी भी होते हैं और अज्ञानी भी। जो ज्ञानी हैं वे नियम से मतिज्ञानी, श्रुतज्ञानी और अवधिज्ञानी हैं। जो अज्ञानी हैं वे मति-अज्ञानी, श्रुल-अज्ञानी और विभंगज्ञानी होते हैं। भावार्थ यह समझना चाहिए कि जो नारक असंज्ञो हैं वे अपर्याप्त अवस्था में दो अज्ञान वाले और पर्याप्त अवस्था में तीन अज्ञान वाले होते हैं। संज्ञी नारक दोनों ही अवस्था में तीन अज्ञान वाले होते हैं / असंज्ञी से उत्पद्यमान नारकों में अपर्याप्त अवस्था में बोध की मन्दता होने से अव्यक्त अवधि भी नहीं होता। योगद्वार-नारकों में मनोयोग, वाग्योग और काययोग, तीन योग होते हैं। उपयोग-नारक साकार और अनाकार दोनों उपयोगवाले हैं। आहारद्वार-नारक जीव लोक के निष्कुट (किनारे) में नहीं होते, मध्य में होते हैं अतः उनके व्याघात नहीं होता। अतः छहों दिशाओं के पुद्गलों को ग्रहण करते हैं और प्रायः करके अशुभ वर्ण, गंध, रस और स्पर्श वाले पदगलों को ग्रहण करते हैं। उपपातद्वार-नारक जीव असंख्यात वर्ष की आयु वाले तिर्यंचों और मनुष्यों को छोड़कर शेष पर्याप्त पंचेन्द्रिय तिर्यंचों और मनुष्यों से आकर उत्पन्न होते हैं / शेष जीवस्थानों से नहीं। स्थितिद्वार-नारकों की जघन्य स्थिति दस हजार वर्ष और उत्कृष्ट स्थिति तेतीस सागरोपम है / जघन्य स्थिति प्रथम नरक की अपेक्षा और उत्कृष्ट स्थिति सातवीं नरक की अपेक्षा से समझनी चाहिए। समवहतद्वार-नारक जीव मारणान्तिक समुद्धात से समवहत होकर भी मरते हैं और असमवहत होकर भी मरते हैं। उद्वर्तनाद्वार--नारक पर्याय से निकल कर नारक जीव असंख्यात वर्षायु वाले तिर्यंचों और मनुष्यों को छोड़कर संज्ञी पंचेन्द्रिय तिर्यंचों और मनुष्यों में ही उत्पन्न होते हैं / संमूछिम मनुष्यों में उत्पन्न नहीं होते / गति-प्रागतिद्वार-नारक जीव मरकर तिर्यंचों और मनुष्यों में ही जाते हैं, इसलिए दो गति वाले और तिर्यंचों मनुष्यों से ही प्राकर उत्पन्न होते हैं, इसलिए दो आगति वाले हैं / हे आयुष्मन् श्रमण ! ये नारक जीव प्रत्येकशरीरी हैं और असंख्यात हैं। यह नैरयिकों का वर्णन हुआ। . तिर्यक् पंचेन्द्रियों का वर्णन 33. से किं तं पंचेवियतिरिक्खजोणिया ? पंचेंदियतिरिक्खजोणिया दुविहा पण्णता,
