विशिष्ट शब्दों का अर्थ
तिक्खुत्तो – त्रिकृत्व:- तीन बार ।
आयाहिणं – दाहिनी ओर से। इसका 'आदक्षिणं' संस्कृत रूप बनता है। पयाहिणं – का संस्कृत रूप 'प्रदक्षिणं' बनता है। अर्थात् दाहिनी ओर से प्रदक्षिणापूर्वक। वंदामि – वन्दन करता हूँ। वन्दन का अर्थ है स्तुति करना।
नमंसामि – नमस्कार करता हूँ। इसका संस्कृत रूप 'नमस्यामि' है । वन्दना और नमस्कार में अंतर है । वन्दना अर्थात् मुख से गुणगान करना, स्तुति करना और नमस्कार अर्थात् काया से नम्रीभूत होना, प्रणमन
करना।
कल्लाणं - कल्याणं-कल्य अर्थात् मोक्ष प्रदान करने वाले या शन्ति प्रदान करने वाले। मंगलं - शुभ, क्षेम, प्रशस्त एवं शिव।
आवश्यकनियुक्ति के आधार पर आचार्य हरिभद्र ने दशवैकालिकसूत्र के प्रथम अध्ययन की प्रथम गाथा की टीका में लिखा है -
"मंग्यते - अधिगम्यते हितमनेन इति मंगलम्" अर्थात् जिसके द्वारा साधक को हित की प्राप्ति हो वह मंगल है।
"मां गालयति भवादिति मंगलम्-संसारादपनयति" जो मुझे (आत्मा को) संसार के बन्धन से अलग करता है, छुड़ता है, वह मंगल है। विशेषावश्यकभाष्य के प्रसिद्ध टीकाकर श्री हेमचन्द्राचार्य कहते हैं - "मक्यते अलंक्रियते आत्मा येनेति मंगलम्' जिसके द्वारा आत्मा शोभायमान हो वह मंगल है। अथवाजिसके द्वारा स्वर्ग एवं मोक्ष प्राप्त किया जाता है या पाप का विनाश किया जाता है, उसे मंगल कहते हैं। नमस्कारसूत्र
नमो अरिहंताणं, नमो सिद्धाणं, नमो आयरियाणं।
नमो उवज्झायाणं, नमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं॥ भावार्थ – अरिहंतों को नमस्कार हो, सिद्धों को नमस्कार हो, आचार्यों को नमस्कार हो, उपाध्यायों को नमस्कार हो, मानव-लोक में विद्यमान समस्त साधुओं को नमस्कार हो।
