___ इन ४१ सूत्रों में कहे गये स्थानों का सेवन करने वाले को लघुचातुर्मासिक प्रायश्चित्त आता है।
विवेचन-भिक्षु यदि गृहस्थ को यह कहे कि 'हम पात्र के लिये ही मासकल्प ठहरे हैं या चौमासा करते हैं, अतः हमें अच्छे पात्र देना या दिलाना' ऐसा निश्चय करना, यह पात्र के लिये निवास करना है और इसका ही दोनों सूत्रों में प्रायश्चित्त कहा गया है।
__ कदाचित् भिक्षु यदि पात्र की अत्यन्त आवश्यकता होने के कारण कहीं कुछ दिन ठहर भी जाए और गृहस्थ से पात्र के निमित्त उपयुक्त वार्ता नहीं करे तो उसे सूत्रोक्त प्रायश्चित्त नहीं आता है।
पात्र के निमित्त ठहरने का संकल्प एवं गृहस्थ से उपयुक्त वार्ता करके ठहरने पर कभी दैवयोग से वहां पात्र न मिले तो साधु को या गृहस्थ को अनेक प्रकार के संकल्प-विकल्प उत्पन्न हो सकते हैं । वह गृहस्थ यदि अनुरागी होगा तो अनेक प्रकार के दोष लगाकर भी पात्र देगा या दिलवायेगा, इससे संयम की विराधना होगी। अतः ऐसे संकल्प से भिक्षु को किसी क्षेत्र में निवास नहीं करना चाहिए। चौदहवें उद्देशक का सारांशसूत्र १ पात्र खरीदना या खरीद कर लाया हुआ पात्र लेना,
