विवेचन - इन यात्राओं के लिये जाते समय और पुनः लौटते समय मार्ग में जहां पड़ाव किया जाता है वहां आहार बनाया जाता है । उसे ग्रहण करने का यहां प्रायश्चित्त कहा गया है । क्योंकि ऐसी यात्राओं के निमित्त बनाए गए आहार के लेने में मंगल अमंगल तथा शंका आदि अनेक दोषों की संभावना रहती है ।

राज्याभिषेक के समय गमनागमन का प्रायश्चित्त-
१९. जे भिक्खू रण्णो खत्तियाणं मुदियाणं मुद्धाभिसित्ताणं महाभिसेयंसि वट्टमाणंसि णिवखमइ वा पविसइ वा, णिक्खमंतं वा, पविसंतं वा साइज्जइ ।
१९. जो भिक्षु शुद्धवंशीय मूर्द्धाभिषिक्त क्षत्रिय राजा के महान् राज्याभिषेक होने के समय निकलता है या प्रवेश करता है या ऐसा करने वाले का अनुमोदन करता है । ( उसे गुरुचौमासी प्रायश्चित्त आता है 1 )
विवेचन - जिस समय राज्याभिषेक हो रहा हो उस समय उस नगरी में अनेक कार्यों के लिये राजपुरुषों का व लोगों का आना-जाना आदि बना रहता है । ऐसे समय साधु को अपने स्थान में ही रहना चाहिये, कहीं पर जाना माना नहीं करना चाहिये । अथवा उस दिशा में जाना-आना नहीं करना चाहिये । जाने-आने में मंगल अमंगल की भावना व जनाकीर्णताजन्य अनेक दोषों की सम्भावना रहती है।
राजधानी में बारंबार प्रवेश का प्रायश्चित्त
२०. जे भिक्खू रण्णो खत्तियाणं मुदियाणं मुद्धाभिसित्ताणं इमाओ दस अभिसेयाओ रायहाओ उद्दिट्ठाओ गणियाओ वंजियाओ अंतो मासस्स दुक्खुत्तो वा, तिक्खुत्तो वा णिक्खमइ वा पविसह वा, णिक्खमंतं वा पविसंतं वा साइज्जइ । तं जहा - १. चम्पा, २. महुरा, ३. वाणारसी, ४. सावत्थी, ५. कंपिल्लं, ६. कोसंबी, ७. साकेयं, ८. मिहिला, ९. हत्थिणाउरं, १०. रायगिहं ।
२०. शुद्धवंशीय मूर्द्धाभिषिक्त क्षत्रिय राजाओं के राज्याभिषेक की नगरियां, जो राजधानी के रूप में घोषित हैं, उनकी संख्या दस है । वे सब अपने नामों से प्रख्यात हैं, इन राजधानियों में जो भिक्ष एक महीने में दो बार या तीन बार जाना-आना करता है या जाने-माने वाले का अनुमोदन करता है । ( उसे गुरुचौमासी प्रायश्चित्त प्राता है) उन नगरियों के नाम इस प्रकार हैं- १. चंपा, २. मथुरा, ३. वाराणसी, ४. श्रावस्ती, ५. साकेतपुर, ६ . कांपिल्य नगर ७. कौशांबी ८. मिथिला ९. हस्तिनापुर १०. राजगृही ।
विवेचन- इन दस राजधानियों में बारह चक्रवर्ती हुये हैं। शांतिनाथ, कुंथुनाथ और अरनाथ ये तीन चक्रवर्ती एक ही हस्तिनापुर नगरी में हुये हैं । इन राजधानियों में एक महीने में एक बार से अधिक जाने-आने का निषेध है । प्रायश्चित्त तो किसी विशेष कारण से दूसरी बार जाने पर नहीं भी आता है, किन्तु तीसरी बार जाने पर तो प्रायश्चित्त आता ही है ।

These cities are well-known by their names: 1. Champa, 2. Mathura, 3. Varanasi, 4. Sravasti, 5. Saketapur, 6. Kampilya, 7. Kaushambi, 8. Mithila, 9. Hastinapur, 10. Rajagriha.
