शय्या-संस्तारक विधिवत न लौटाने का प्रायश्चित्त
५४. जे भिक्खू पाडिहारियं सेज्जा-संथारयं आयाए अपडिहटु संपव्वयइ संपव्वयंतं वा साइज्जइ।
५५. जे भिक्खू सागारियसंतियं सेज्जा-संथारयं अविगरणं कटु अणप्पिणित्ता संपव्वयइ, संपव्वयंतं वा साइज्जइ ।
५४. जो भिक्षु प्रत्यर्पणीय [ अन्य किसी से लाया ] शय्या-संस्तारक ग्रहण करके उसे लौटाये बिना ही विहार करता है या विहार करने वाले का अनुमोदन करता है।
५५. जो भिक्षु शय्यातर के शय्या-संस्तारक को ग्रहण कर लौटाते समय पूर्ववत् रखे बिना तथा संभलाए बिना विहार करता है या विहार करने वाले का अनुमोदन करता है । (उसे लघुमासिक प्रायश्चित्त आता है।)
विवेचन-साधु का कर्तव्य है कि प्रत्यर्पणीय शय्या-संस्तारक [ या अन्य वस्तु ] विहार करने के पूर्व उसके स्वामी को लौटा दे ।
शय्यातर के मकान में से जो शय्या-संस्तारक लिया है, वह तो वहीं रहता है। किन्तु अपनी आवश्यकतानुसार उसके जो बाँस कंबियां आदि बांधे हों, उन्हें बिखेर कर अलग कर देना "विकरण' कहलाता है और न बिखेरना "अविकरण" कहलाता है। अतः पूर्ववत् करके तथा मालिक को सम्भलाकर के ही विहार करना चाहिये । अन्यथा अनेक दोषों की संभावना रहती है । जो पूर्व सूत्र [५२-५३] के विवेचन से समझ लेना चाहिये । खोये गये शय्या-संस्तारक की गवेषणा नहीं करने का प्रायश्चित्त

विवेचन-ये सूत्रोक्त दोनों प्रकार के शय्या-संस्तारक कोई जानकर के या भ्रांतिवश उठाकर ले जाये तो साधु को उनकी पूछताछ करना, खोज करना एवं मालिक को सूचना देने में उपेक्षा नहीं करनी चाहिये, उपेक्षा करने से अनेक दोषों की सम्भावना रहती है, उन्हें पूर्व सूत्र से समझ लेना चाहिये।
इन [ ५४-५५-५६ ] तीनों सूत्रों में कहे गये प्रायश्चित्त विषयक विधि-निषेध का कथन बृहत्कल्पसूत्र, उद्देशक तीन के तीन सूत्रों में है। भाष्य चूणि में भी इनकी व्याख्या अलग-अलग की
