४२. जे भिक्खू अण्णउत्थिएण वा गारथिएण वा परिहारिओ वा अपरिहारिएण सद्धि गामाणुगामं दूइज्जइ, दूइज्जतं वा साइज्जइ ।
४०. जो भिक्षु अन्यतीथिक या गृहस्थ के साथ तथा पारिहारिक साधु अपारिहारिक साधु के साथ गाथापति कुल में आहारप्राप्ति के लिये निष्क्रमण-प्रवेश करता है या निष्क्रमण-प्रवेश करने का अनुमोदन करता है।
४१. जो भिक्षु अन्यतीथिक या गृहस्थ के साथ तथा पारिहारिक साधु अपारिहारिक साधु के साथ विहारभूमि या विचारभूमि में निष्क्रमण-प्रवेश करता है या निष्क्रमण-प्रवेश करने वाले का अनुमोदन करता है।
४२. जो भिक्षु अन्यतीथिक या गृहस्थ के साथ तथा पारिहारिक साधु अपारिहारिक साधु के साथ ग्रामानुग्राम विहार करता है या करने वाले का अनुमोदन करता है। (उसे लघुमासिक प्रायश्चित्त आता है।)
विवेचन-१. अन्यतीथिक-आजीवक, चरक परिव्राजक शाक्य आदि । २. गृहस्थ-भिक्षाजीवी गृहस्थ अर्थात् शनिवार आदि निश्चित दिन भिक्षा करने वाला। ३. पारिहारिक-गवेषणा-दोषों का पूर्ण ज्ञाता और गवेषणा के दोष न लगाने वाला। ४. अपारिहारिक–गवेषणा-दोषों का ज्ञाता होते हुए भी प्रमादवश दोष लगाने वाला।
भिक्षाकाल में भिक्षु के साथ उसी भिक्षु का जाना :उचित है जो गवेषणा के सभी दोषों का पूर्ण ज्ञाता हो, अन्य व्यक्तियों का साथ में जाना सर्वथा अनुचित है ।
इसी प्राशय को लक्ष्य में रखकर यहाँ अन्यतीर्थिक के साथ, भिक्षाजीवी गृहस्थ के साथ तथा स्वलिंगी अपारिहारिक के साथ जाने पर लघुमासिक प्रायश्चित्त विधान किया गया है।
अन्यतीथिक आदि के साथ जाने से भिक्षादाता के मन में भी अनेक विकल्प उत्पन्न होते हैं। वह सोचता है-पहले श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थ को भिक्षा दूं या जिनके साथ ये आए हैं इन्हें पहले दूं? श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थ को कैसा आहार दूं और इन्हें कैसा पाहार हूँ? अन्यतीथिक आदि के साथ श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थ क्यों आये ?
