राजा वसुदेव का यह आदेश सुनकर वे इसी प्रकार करते हैं और राजाज्ञा वापिस करते हैं।
तत्पश्चात् वसुदेव राजा बाहर की उपस्थानशाला (सभा) में, पूर्व की ओर मुख करके, श्रेष्ठ सिंहासन पर बैठा और सैकड़ों, हजारों और लाखों के द्रव्य से याग (पूजन) एवं दान दिया। आय में से अमुक भाग दिया और प्राप्त होने वाले द्रव्य को ग्रहण करता हुआ विचरने लगा।
तत्पश्चात् उस बालक के माता-पिता ने पहले दिन जातकर्म (नाल काटना आदि) किया। दूसरे दिन जागरिका (रात्रि-जागरण) किया। तीसरे दिन चन्द्र-सूर्य का दर्शन कराया। इस प्रकार अशुचि जातकर्म की क्रिया सम्पन्न हुई। फिर बारहवाँ दिन आया तो विपुल अशन, पान, खादिम और स्वादिम आहार तैयार करवाया। तैयार करवाकर मित्रों, बन्धु आदि ज्ञातिजनों, पुत्र आदि निजकों, काका आदि स्वजनों, श्वसुर आदि सम्बधिजनों, दास आदि परिजनों तथा सेना- और बहुत से गणनायक, दंडनायक आदि को आमंत्रण दिया।
उसके पश्चात् स्नान किया, बलिकर्म किया, मषि तिलक आदि कौतुक किया, मंगल किया, प्रायश्चित्त किया और सर्व अलंकारों से विभूषित हुआ। फिर बहुत विशाल भोजन-मंडप में, उस अशन, पान, खादिम और स्वादिम भोजन का मित्र, ज्ञाति आदि तथा गणनायक आदि के साथ आस्वादन, विस्वादन, परस्पर विभाजन और परिभोग करता हुआ विचरने लगा।
. इस प्रकार भोजन करने के पश्चात् वे सब बैठने के स्थान पर आये। शुद्ध जल से आचमन (कुल्ला) किया। हाथ-मुँह धोकर स्वच्छ हुए, परंस शुचि हुए। फिर उन मित्र, ज्ञाति निजक, स्वजन, सम्बन्धीजन, परिजन आदि तथा गणनायक आदि का विपुल वस्त्र, गंध, माला और अलंकार से सत्कार किया, सम्मान किया, सत्कार-सम्मान करके इस प्रकार कहा] - "क्योंकि हमारा यह बालक गज के तालु के समान सुकोमल एवं सुन्दर है, अतः हमारे इस बालक का नाम गजसुकुमाल (गज-सुकुमार) हो।" इस प्रकार विचार कर उस बालक के माता-पिता ने उसका "गजसुकुमार" यह नाम रखा। शेष वर्णन मेघकुमार के समान समझना। क्रमशः गजसुकुमार भोग भोगने में समर्थ हो गया।
विवेचन- इस सूत्र में माता देवकी का स्वप्न में सिंह देखना, जागने पर पतिदेव को अपने स्वप्न का हाल कहना, पतिदेव द्वारा स्वप्नपाठकों को बुलवाना, स्वप्नपाठकों द्वारा स्वप्नों का विवरण प्रस्तुत करना और स्वप्न का फल बतलाना, गर्भ-संरक्षण करना, यथासमय (नौ मास व्यतीत होने पर) हाथी के तालु के समान रक्त एवं कोमल पुत्र का जन्म होना, और उसका गजसुकुमार नाम-संस्कार करना, अन्त में गजसुकुमार का बाल्यावस्था से युवावस्था में पदार्पण करना, इन सब बातों का वर्णन किया गया है।
____ तीर्थंकर और चक्रवर्ती के गर्भ में आने पर उनकी माताएं चौदह महास्वप्न देखती हैं। उनमें से बारहवें स्वप्न में विमान या भवन' देखती हैं । यहाँ विमान या भवन के विकल्प का आशय यह है कि जो जीव देवलोक से आकर तीर्थंकर रूप में जन्म लेता है उसकी माता स्वप्न में विमान देखती है और जो जीव नरक से आकर तीर्थंकर के रूप में जन्म लेता है उसकी माता स्वप्न में भवन देखती है।
जासुमणा.................समप्पभं पद की व्याख्या इस प्रकार है-जासुमणा-जयसुमन–जया एक वनस्पति विशेष का नाम है। इसे जासु या अडहुल भी कहते हैं। संस्कृत-शब्दार्थकौस्तुभ नामक संस्कृत कोष में जया का अर्थ- सदाबहार गुलाब का फूल या पौधा" ऐसा लिखा है । जया के फूलों को 'जासुमन' कहा जाता है, ये पुष्प रक्तवर्ण के होते हैं।
