हुआ और हाथ जोड़कर यावत् स्वप्नपाठकों से इस प्रकार बोला - "देवानुप्रियो ! जैसा आपने स्वप्नफल बताया वह उसी प्रकार है । इस प्रकार कहकर स्वप्न का अर्थ भली-भांति स्वीकार किया। फिर स्वप्नपाठकों को विपुल अशन, पान, खादिम, स्वादिम, पुष्प, वस्त्र, गन्ध, माला और अलंकारों से सत्कृत किया, सन्मानित किया और जीविका के योग्य बहुत प्रीतिदान दिया और उन्हें जाने की अनुमति दी ।] तत्पश्चात् हर्षित एवं हृष्ट-तुष्ट-हृदया होती हुई वह देवकी देवी सुखपूर्वक अपने गर्भ का पालन-पोषण करने लगी।
तत्पश्चात् उस देवकी देवी ने नवमास का गर्भ-काल पूर्ण कर जपा- कुसुम, लाल बन्धुजीवकपुष्प के समान, लाक्षारस, श्रेष्ठ पारिजात एवं प्रातः कालीन सूर्य के समान कान्तिवाले, सर्वजन नयनाभिराम सुकुमाल [हाथ पांव वाले, अंगहीनतारहित, संपूर्ण पंचेन्द्रियों से युक्त शरीर वाले, (स्वरूप की अपेक्षा से) परिपूर्ण व पवित्र ( स्वस्तिक आदि), लक्षण (तिल मष आदि) व्यंजन और गुणों से युक्त, माप, भार और आकार - विस्तार से परिपूर्ण और सुन्दर बने हुए समस्त अंगों वाले, चन्द्र के समान सौम्य आकार वाले, कान्त और प्रियदर्शी सुन्दर गज-तालु के समान रूपवान् पुत्र को जन्म दिया। जन्म का वर्णन मेघकुमार के समान समझें। वह इस प्रकार है - तत्पश्चात् दासियाँ देवकी देवी को नौ मास पूर्ण होने पर पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ देखती हैं, देखकर हर्ष के कारण शीघ्र, मन में त्वरा वाली काय से चपल एवं वेग वाली वे दासियां जहाँ वसुदेव राजा है वहां आती हैं। आकर वसुदेव राजा को जय-विजय शब्द कहकर बधाई देती हैं, बधाई देकर दोनों हाथ जोड़कर मस्तक पर आवर्तन करके अंजलि करके इस प्रकार कहती हैं"हे देवानुप्रिये! देवकी देवी ने नौ मास पूर्ण होने पर यावत् पुत्र का प्रसव किया है। हम देवानुप्रिय को यह प्रिय (समाचार) निवेदन करती हैं। आपको प्रिय हो । तत्पश्चात् वसुदेव राजा उन दासियों से यह अर्थ सुनकर और हृदय में धारण करके हृष्ट-तुष्ट हुआ। उसने उन दासियों का मधुर वचनों से तथा विपुल पुष्पों, गंधमालाओं और आभूषणों से सत्कार और सन्मान करके उन्हें मस्तक - धौत किया अर्थात् दासीपन से मुक्त कर दिया। उन्हें ऐसी आजीविका कर दी कि उनके पुत्र-पौत्र आदि तक चलती रहे। इस प्रकार विपुल द्रव्य देकर उन्हें विदा किया। तत्पश्चात् वसुदेव राजा कौटुम्बिक पुरुषों को बुलाता है, बुलाकर इस प्रकार आदेश देता है - हे देवानुप्रियो ! शीघ्र ही द्वारका नगरी में सुगन्धित जल छिड़को, यावत् सर्वत्र (मंगल गान कराओ। कारागार से कैदियों को मुक्त करो। यह सब करके यह आज्ञा वापस सौंपो यावत् कौटुम्बिक पुरुष राजाज्ञा के अनुसार कार्य करके आज्ञा वापस सौंपते हैं। तत्पश्चात् वसुदेव राजा कुंभकार आदि जाति रूप अठारह श्रेणियों को और उनके उपविभागरूप अठारह प्रश्रेणियों को बुलाते हैं, बुलाकर इस प्रकार कहते हैं – देवानुप्रियो ! तुम जाओ और द्वारका नगरी के भीतर और बाहर दस दिन की स्थितिपतिका (कुलमर्यादा के अनुसार होने वाली पुत्र - जन्मोत्सव की विशिष्ट रीति) कराओ। वह इस प्रकार है - दस दिनों तक शुल्क (चुंगी) बन्द किया जाय, प्रतिवर्ष लगने वाला कर माफ किया जाय, कुटुम्बियों और किसानों आदि के घर में बेगार लेने आदि के लिये राजपुरुषों का प्रवेश निषिद्ध किया जाय, दंड (अपराध के अनुसार लिया जाने वाला द्रव्य) और कुदंड (अल्प दंड - बड़ा अपराध करने पर भी लिया जाने वाला थोड़ा द्रव्य) न लिया जाय, किसी को ऋणी न रहने दिया जाय अर्थात् राजा की ओर से सब का ऋण चुका दिया जाय। किसी देनदार को पकड़ा न जाय, ऐसी घोषणा कर दो । तथा सर्वत्र मृदंग आदि बाजे बजवाओ। चारों ओर विकसित ताजा फूलों की मालाएँ लटकाओ । गणिकाएँ जिनमें प्रधान हैं, ऐसे पात्रों से नाटक करवाओ। अनेक तालाचारों (प्रेक्षाकारियों) 'नाटक करवाओ। ऐसा करो कि लोग हर्षित होकर क्रीडा करें। इस प्रकार यथायोग्य दस दिन की स्थितिपतिका करो, कराओ और मेरी यह आज्ञा मुझे वापिस सौंपो ।
