[45] Assurance to Devaki Devi
15 - Then that Harinegamesi said to Kanha Vasudeva thus: "O Devanappriya! Your younger brother will be born in the divine world. He, after passing the childhood stage, will attain the age of youth, and then, having become a monk, will renounce the household life and take up the ascetic life. Tell Kanha Vasudeva this again and again, and after saying this, he went back in the same direction from which he had appeared.
Then that Kanha Vasudeva returned from the Posadha-sala, went to where Devaki Devi was, and after paying obeisance to Devaki Devi, spoke thus: "O mother! My younger brother will be born. Now do not worry. Your desire will be fulfilled." After saying this, he assured Devaki Devi with sweet, desirable, beloved, and pleasant words, and then went back in the same direction from which he had appeared.
Explanation - The pleased Harinegamesi Deva gives the assurance to Shri Krishna of the birth of his younger brother, but also informs him of the latter's renunciation. Shri Krishna goes to Devaki Devi and conveys the news of the fulfillment of this task. The present sutra mentions the assurance given by Krishna to Devaki Devi.
16 - Then that Devaki Devi, in that excellent, beautiful, and charming abode - inside, engaged in meditational activities; outside, on the well-plastered and decorated floor, on the variegated and splendid terrace, in the jewel-and-gem-bedecked darkness, in the well-divided and spacious area, in the midst of the fragrant and colorful flowers, in the pleasant fragrance of excellent aloe, sandalwood, and camphor, in the delightful scent, in the fragrant atmosphere, on the couch adorned with embracing, on both sides elevated, in the middle deep, on the sand-covered bank of the Ganga, under the shade of the fine, soft, and delicate cloth, on the excellent, comfortable bed, covered with red silk, beautiful, with the touch of fresh butter, oil, and cotton - in that excellent, fragrant abode...
