5- (Bhante! If the Samana Bhagavan Mahavira has expounded the meaning of the seventh Adhyayana of the third Varga of the Antargadadasa, then Bhante! what is the meaning expounded by the Samana Bhagavan Mahavira for the eighth Adhyayana of the third Varga of the Antargadadasa?)
Thus, indeed, Jambusavami! At that time, in the city of Dvaraka, as described in the first (Adhyayana), the Arihanta Aristanemi Bhagavan arrived.
The Resolve of the Six Anointed Ones
6- At that time, the six Anagara (anointed ones), who were the disciples of the Arihanta Aristanemi, were brothers. They were similar in appearance, complexion, and condition. Their complexion was like the blue lotus, the interior of the horn of a buffalo, the guliga (a type of flower), and the blossoming of the alasi flower. They had the auspicious mark of Srivatsya and their hair was soft and curly like the flower-garlands of Nalakubara.
Then, on the very day that these six Anagaras had renounced the household life and taken up the life of an Anagara (anointed one), they venerated and paid obeisance to the Arihanta Aristanemi. After venerating and paying obeisance, they said, "Bhante! We wish, with your permission, to live, for the rest of our lives, practicing the sixfold asceticism, the uninterrupted spiritual effort, and the penance."
The Devanampriya (the Venerable One) said, "Do not create any obstacle."
Then, those six Anagaras, with the permission of the Arihanta Aristanemi, lived, for the rest of their lives, practicing the sixfold asceticism, the uninterrupted spiritual effort, and the penance.
