४-तए णं से कण्हे वासुदेवे अरहं अरिट्ठणेमिं एवं वयासी"अहं णं भंते! इओ कालमासे कालं किच्चा कहिं गमिस्सामि? कहिं उववज्जिस्सामि?" तए णं अरहा अरिट्ठणेमी कण्हं वासुदेवं एवं वयासी
"एवं खलु कण्हा! तुमं बारवईए नयरीए सुरग्गि-दीवायण-कोव-निदड्ढाए अम्मापिइनियग-विप्पहूणे रामेण बलदेवेण सद्धिं दाहिणवेयालिं अभिमुहे जुहिट्ठिल्लपामोक्खाणं पंचण्हं पंडवाणं पंडुराय पुत्ताणं पासं पंडुमहुरं संपत्थिए कोसंबवणकाणणे नग्गोहवरपायवस्स अहे पुढविसिलापट्टए पीयवत्थ पच्छाइय-सरीरे जराकुमारेणं तिक्खेणं कोदंड-विप्पमुक्केणं उसुणा वामे पादे विद्धे समाणे कालमासे कालं किच्चा तच्चाए वालुयप्पभाए पुढवीए उज्जलिए नरए नेरइयत्ताए उववन्जिहिसि।"
तए णं से कण्हे वासुदेवे अरहओ अरिट्ठणेमिस्स अंतिए एयमढे सोच्चा निसम्म ओहय जाव' झियाइ।
कण्हाइ! अरहा अरिट्ठणेमी कण्हं वासुदेवं एवं वयासी-"मा णं तुमं देवाणुप्पिया! ओहयमणसंकप्पे जाव झियाह। एवं खलु तुमं देवाणुप्पिया! तच्चाओ पुढवीओ उज्जलियाओ नरयाओ अणंतरं उव्वट्टित्ता इहेव जंबुद्दीवे दीवे भारहे वासे आगमेसाए उस्सप्पिणीए पुंडेसु जणवएसु सयदुवारे नयरे बारसमे अममे नामं अरहा भविस्ससि। तत्थ तुमं बहूई वासाइं केवलिपरियागं पाउणेत्ता सिज्झिहिसि बुज्झिहिसि मुच्चिहिसि परिनिव्वाहिसि सव्वदुक्खाणं अंतं काहिसि।
___ तए णं से कण्हे वासुदेवे अरहओ अरिट्ठणेमिस्स अंतिए एयमढे सोच्चा निसम्म हट्ठतुट्ठ० अप्फोडेइ, अप्फोडेत्ता वग्गइ, वग्गित्ता तिवई छिंदइ, छिंदित्ता सीहणायं करेइ, करेत्ता अरहं अरिट्ठणेमिं वंदइ नमसइ, वंदित्ता नमंसित्ता तमेव आभिसेक्कं हत्थिं दुरुहइ, दुरुहित्ता जेणेव बारवई नयरी, जेणेव सए गिहे तेणेव उवागए। आभिसेयहत्थिरयणाओ पच्चोरुहइ, पच्चोरुहित्ता जेणेव बाहिरिया उवट्ठाणसाला जेणेव सए सीहासणे तेणेव उवागच्छइ, उवागच्छित्ता सीहासणवरंसि पुरत्थाभिमुहे निसीयइ, निसीइत्ता कोडुंबियपुरिसे सद्दावेइ सदावित्ता एवं वयासी
तब कृष्ण वासुदेव अरिहंत अरिष्टनेमि को इस प्रकार बोले"हे भगवन्! यहाँ से काल के समय काल कर मैं कहाँ जाऊंगा, कहां उत्पन्न होऊंगा?" इसके उत्तर में अरिष्टनेमि भगवान् ने कहा
हे कृष्ण ! तुम सुरा, अग्नि और द्वैपायन के कोप के कारण इस द्वारका नगरी के जल कर नष्ट हो जाने पर और अपने माता-पिता एवं स्वजनों का वियोग हो जाने पर राम बलदेव के साथ दक्षिणी समुद्र के तट की ओर पाण्डुराजा के पुत्र युधिष्ठिर आदि पाचों पांडवों के समीप पाण्डु मथुरा की ओर जाओगे। रास्ते में विश्राम लेने के लिए कौशाम्बवन-उद्यान में अत्यन्त विशाल एक वटवृक्ष के नीचे, पृथ्वीशिलापट्ट पर पीताम्बर ओढ़कर तुम सो जाओगे। उस समय मृग के भ्रम में जराकुमार द्वारा चलाया हुआ तीक्ष्ण तीर तुम्हारे बाएं पैर में लगेगा। इस तीक्ष्ण तीर से बिद्ध होकर तुम काल के समय काल करके वालुकाप्रभा
