[उपासकदशांगसूत्र थूलगं पाणाइवायं पच्चक्खाइ, जावजीवाए दुविहं तिविहेणं, न करेमि, न कारवेमि, मणसा वयसा कायसा।
तब आनन्द गाथापति ने श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के पास प्रथम या मुख्य स्थूल प्राणातिपात-- स्थूल हिंसा का प्रत्याख्यान--परित्याग किया, इन शब्दों में--
मैं जीवन पर्यन्त दो करण--कृत व कारित अर्थात करना, कराना तथा तीन योग--मन, वचन एवं काया से स्थूल हिंसा का परित्याग करता हूँ अर्थात् मैं मन से, वचन से तथा शरीर से स्थूल हिंसा न करूगां और न कराऊंगा।
सत्य व्रत
१४. तयाणंतरं च णं थूलगं मुसावायं पच्चक्खाइ, जावज्जीवाए दुविहं तिविहेणं न करेमि न कारवेमि, मणसा वयसा कायसा।
तदन्तर उसने स्थूल मृषावाद--असत्य का परित्याग किया, इन शब्दों में--
मैं जीवन भर के लिए दो करण और तीन योग से स्थूल मृषावाद का परित्याग करता हूँ अर्थात् मैं मन से, वचन से तथा शरीर से न स्थूल असत्य का प्रयोग करूंगा और न कराऊंगा। अस्तेय व्रत

१६. तयाणंतरं च णं सदार-संतोसिए परिमाणं करेइ, नन्नत्थ एक्काए सिवनंदाए भारियाए, अवसेसं सव्वं मेहुणविहिं पच्चक्खामि।
फिर उसने स्वदारसन्तोष व्रत के अन्तर्गत मैथुन का परिमाण किया। इन शब्दों में-- अपनी एकमात्र पत्नी शिवनन्दा के अतिरिक्त अवशेष समग्र मैथुनविधि का परित्याग करता हूं।
इच्छा-परिमाण
