[१६५ वंदित्ता नमंसित्ता एवं वयासी-इच्छामि णं भंते! तुब्भं अतिए धम्मं निसामेत्तए।
सकडालपुत्र ने श्रमण भगवान् महावीर को वन्दन-नमस्कार किया और उनसे कहा-भगवन् ! मैं आपसे धर्म सुनना चाहता हूं।
२०३. तए णं समणे भगवं महावीरे सद्दालपुत्तस्स आजीविओवासगस्स तीसे य जाव' धम्म परिकहेइ।
तब श्रमण भगवान् महावीर ने आजीविकोपासक सकडालपुत्र को तथा उपस्थित परिषद् को धर्मोपदेश दिया। सकडालपुत्र एवं अग्निमित्रा द्वारा व्रत-ग्रहण
२०४. तए णं से सद्दालपुत्ते आजीविओवासए समणस्स भगवओ महावीरसस अंतिए धम्म सोच्चा, निसम्म हट्ठ-तुट्ठ जाव' हियए जहा आणंदो तहा गिहि-धम्म पडिवज्जइ। नवरं एगा हिरण्ण-कोडी निहाण-पउत्ता, एगा हिरण्णकोडी वुड्वि-पउत्ता, एगा हिरण्ण-कोडी पवित्थर-पउत्ता, एगे वए, दस गो-साहस्सिएणं वएणं जाव समणं भगवं महावीरं वंदइ नमंसइ, वंदित्ता नमंसित्ता जेणेव पोलासपुरे नयरे, तेणेव उवागच्छइ, उवागच्छित्ता पोलासपुरं नयरं मझमज्झेणं जेणेव सए गिहे, जेणेव अग्गिमित्ता भारिया, तेणेव उवागच्छइ, उवागच्छित्ता, अग्गिमित्तं एवं वयासी-एवं खलु देवाणुप्पिए! समणे भगवं महावीरे जाव' समोसढे, तं गच्छाहि णं तुमं, समणं भगवं महावीरं वंदाहि जाव पज्जुवासाहि , समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स अंतिए पंचाणुव्वइयं सत्तसिक्खावइयं दुवालसविहं गिहि-धम्म पडिवजाहि।
आजीविकोपासक सकडालपुत्र श्रमण भगवान् महावीर से धर्म सुनकर अत्यन्त प्रसन्न एवं संतुष्ट हुआ और उसने आनन्द की तरह श्रावक-धर्म स्वीकार किया। आनन्द से केवल इतना अन्तर था, सकडालपुत्र के परिग्रह के रूप में एक करोड़ स्वर्ण-मुद्राएं सुरक्षित धन के रूप में खजाने में रखी थी, एक करोड़ स्वर्ण-मुद्राएं व्यापार में लगी थी तथा एक करोड़-मुद्राएं घर के वैभव-साधन-सामग्री में लगी थीं। उसके एक गोकुल था, जिसमें दस हजार गायें थीं।
सकडालपुत्र ने श्रमण भगवान् महावीर को वंदन-नमस्कार किया। वंदन-नमस्कार कर वह वहां से चला, पोलासपुर नगर के बीच से गुजरता हुआ, अपने घर अपनी पत्नी अग्निमित्रा के पास आया और उससे बोला-देवानुप्रिये ! श्रमण भगवान महावीर पधारे हैं , तुम जाओ उनकी वंदना, पर्युपासना
