[१४७ श्रमणोपासक कुंडकौलिक ने जब यह सब सुना तो वह अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हुआ और भगवान् के दर्शन के लिए कामदेव की तरह गया, भगवान् की पर्युपासना की, धर्म-देशना सुनी।
१७५. 'कुंडकोलिया!' इ समणे भगवं महावीरे कुंडकोलियं समणोवासयं एवं वयासी से नूणं कुंडकोलिया! कल्लं तुब्भं पुव्वावरण्ह-काल-समयंसि असोग-वणियाए एगे देवे अंतियं पाउब्भवित्था। तए णं से देवे नाम-मुदं च तहेव जाव (नो संचाएइ तुब्भे किंचि पामोक्खमाइक्खित्तए, नाममुद्दगं च उत्तरिजगं च पुढविसिलापट्टए ठवेइ, ठवेत्ता जामेव दिसं पाउब्भूए, तामेव( दिसं) पडिगए। से नूणं कुंडकोलिया! अढे समठे? हन्ता अत्थि। तं धन्नेसि णं तुम कुंडकोलिया! जहा कामदेवो।
अजो! इ समणे भगवं महावीरे समणे निग्गंथे य निग्गंथीओ य आमंतित्ता एवं वयासी-जइ ताव, अजो! गिहिणो गिहिमज्झावसंता णं अन्न-उत्थिए अद्वेहि य हेऊहि य पसिणेहि य कारणेहि य वागरणेहि य निप्पट्ठ -पसिणवागरणे करेंति, सक्का पुणाई, अज्जो! समणेहिं निग्गंथेहिं दुवालसंगं गणि-पिडगं अहिजमाणेहिं अन्न-उत्थिया अद्वेहि य जाव (हेऊहि य पसिणेहि य कारणेहि य वागरणेहि य) निप्पट्ठ-पसिणवारणा करित्तए।
- भगवान् महावीर ने श्रमणोपासक कुंडकौलिक से कहा-कुंडकौलिक ! कल दोपहर के समय अशोकवाटिका में एक देव तुम्हारे समक्ष प्रकट हुआ। वह तुम्हारी नामांकित अंगूठी और दुपट्टा लेकरआकाश में चला गया। आगे जैसा घटित हुआ था, भगवान् ने बतलाया। (जब वह देव तुमको कुछ उत्तर नहीं दे सका तो तुम्हारी नामांकित अंगूठी और दुपट्टा वापस रख कर जिस दिशा से आया था, उसी दिशा की ओर लौट गया।)
कुंडकौलिक! क्या यह ठीक है? कुंडकौलिक ने कहा-भगवन् ! ऐसा ही हुआ। तब भगवन् ने जैसा कामदेव से कहा था, उसी प्रकार उससे कहा-कुंडकौलिक ! तुम धन्य हो।
श्रमण भगवान् महावीर ने उपस्थित श्रमणों और श्रमणियों को सम्बोधित कर कहा-आर्यों ! यदि घर में रहने वाले गृहस्थ भी अन्य मतानुयायियों को अर्थ, हेतु, प्रश्न, युक्ति तथा उत्तर द्वारा निरूत्तर कर देते हैं तो आर्यो! द्वादशांगरूप गणिपिटक का-आचार आदि बारह अंगों का अध्ययन करने वाले श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थ तो अन्य मतानुयायियों को अर्थ, (हेतु, प्रश्न, युक्ति तथा विश्लेषण) द्वारा निरूत्तर करने में समर्थ हैं ही।
१७६. तए णं समणा निग्गंथा य निग्गंथीओ य समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स 'तह' त्ति एयमढं विणएणं पडिसुणेति।
श्रमण भगवान महावीर का यह कथन उन साधु-साध्वियों ने 'ऐसा ही है भगवान !'-यों कह कर विनयपूर्वक स्वीकार किया।
१७७. तए णं से कुंडकोलिए समणोवासए समणं भगवं महावीरं वंदइ नमसइ, वंदित्ता नमंसित्ता पसिणाई पुच्छइ, पुच्छित्ता अट्ठमादियइ, अट्ठमादित्ता जामेव दिसिं पाउब्भूए

[176] Then the Shramans and Shramanis, with humility, accepted this statement of the Shraman Bhagavan Mahavira, saying, 'It is so, Bhagavan!'

[177] Then the Shramanopasaka Kundakoliya bowed and prostrated before the Shraman Bhagavan Mahavira. After bowing and prostrating, he asked questions, and after asking questions, he attained enlightenment. After attaining enlightenment, he went in the same direction from which he had come.
