[उपासकदशांगसूत्र वेढेइ, वेढित्ता तिक्खाहिं विसपरिगयाहिं दाढाहिं उरंसि चेव निकुट्टेइ।
सर्परूपधारी देव ने जब श्रमणोपासक कामदेव को निर्भय देखा तो वह अत्यन्त क्रुध होकर सर्राटे के साथ उसके शरीर पर चढ़ गया। चढ़ कर पिछले भाग से उसके गले में तीन लपेट लगा दिए। लपेट लगाकर अपने तीखे, जहरीले दातों से उसकी छाती पर डंक मारा।
