[उपासकदशांगसूत्र
परिजन] तथा जेष्ठ पुत्र को पूछ कर-उनकी अनुमति लेकर कोल्लाक-सन्निवेश में स्थित ज्ञातकुल की पोषध-शाला का प्रतिलेखन कर भगवान् महावीर के पास अंगीकृत धर्म-प्रज्ञप्ति के अनुरूप आचार का परिपालन करूंगा। यों आनन्द ने संप्रेक्षण-सम्यक् चिन्तन किया। वैसा कर, दूसरे दिन अपने मित्रों, जातीय जनों आदि को भोजन कराया। तत्पश्चात् उनका प्रचुर पुष्प, वस्त्र, सुगन्धित पदार्थ, माला एवं आभूषणों से सत्कार किया, सम्मान किया। यों सत्कार-सम्मान कर, उनके समक्ष अपने ज्येष्ठ पुत्र को बुलाया। बुलाकर, जैसा सोचा था, वह सब तथा अपनी सामाजिक स्थिति एवं प्रतिष्ठा आदि समझाते हुए उसे कहा--पुत्र! वाणिज्यग्राम नगर में मैं बहुत से मांडलिक राजा, ऐश्वर्यशाली पुरूषों आदि से सम्बद्ध हूं, [इस व्याक्षेप के कारण श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के पास अंगीकृत धर्मप्रज्ञप्ति के अनुरूप] समुचित धर्मोपासना कर नहीं पाता। अतः इस समय मेरे लिए यही श्रेयस्कर है कि तुमको अपने कुटुम्ब के मेढि, प्रमाण, आधार एवं आलम्बन के रूप में स्थापित कर मैं [मित्र-वृन्द, जातीय जन, परिवार के सदस्य, बन्धु-बान्धव, सम्बन्धी, परिजन--इन सबको तथा तुम को पूछकर कोल्लाक-सन्निवेश-स्थित ज्ञातकुल की पौषध-शाला का प्रतिलेखन कर, भगवान् महावीर के पास अंगीकृत धर्म-प्रज्ञप्ति के अनुरूप] समुचित धर्मोपासना में लग जाऊं।
६७. तए णं जेट्टपुत्ते आणंदस्स समणोवासगस्स 'तह ति एयमढं विणएणं पडिसुणेइ।'
___ तब श्रमणोपासक आनन्द के ज्येष्ठ पुत्र ने 'जैसी आपकी आज्ञा' यों कहते हुए अत्यन्त विनयपूर्वक अपने पिता का कथन स्वीकार किया।
६८. तए णं से आणंदे समणोवासए तस्सेव मित्त जाव' पुरओ जेट्टपुत्तं कुडुम्बे ठवेइ, ठवित्ता एवं वयासी--मा णं, देवाणुप्पिया! तुब्भे अज्जप्पभिई केइ ममं बहुसु कज्जेसु जाव (य कारणेसु य मंतेसु य कुटुंबेसु य गुज्झेसु य रहस्सेसु य निच्छएसु य ववहारेसु य) आपुच्छउ वा, पडिपुच्छउ वा, ममं अट्ठाए असणं वा पाणं वा खाइमं वा साइमं वा उवक्खडेउ वा उवकरेउ वा।
श्रमणोपासक आनन्द ने अपने मित्र-वर्ग, जातीय जन आदि के समक्ष अपने ज्येष्ठ पुत्र को कुटुम्ब में अपने स्थान पर स्थापित किया--उत्तर-दायित्व उसे सौंपा। वैसा कर उपस्थित जनों से उसने कहा--महानुभावों! [देवानुप्रियो] आज से आप में से कोई भी मुझे विविध कार्यों [कारणों, मंत्रणाओं, पारिवारिक समस्याओं, गोपनीय बातों, एकान्त में विचारणीय विषयों, किए गए निर्णयों तथा परस्पर के व्यवहारों] के सम्बन्ध में न कुछ पूछे और न परामर्श ही करें, मेरे हेतु अशन, पान, खाद्य, स्वाद्य आदि आहार तैयार न करें और न मेरे पास लाएं।
६९. तए णं से आणंदे समणोवासए जेट्ठपुत्तं मित्तनाई आपुच्छइ, आपुच्छिता सयाओ गिहाओ पडिणिक्खमइ, पडिणिक्खमित्ता वाणियगामं नयरं मज्झ-मझेणं निग्गच्छइ, निग्गच्छित्ता

Thus, Ānanda contemplated with Samyak-cintana. Doing so, on the next day, he fed his friends, caste members, etc. Afterwards, he honored them with abundant flowers, clothes, fragrant substances, garlands, and ornaments. Then, Śramaṇa-upāsaka Ānanda established his eldest son in his place in the family in front of his friends, caste members, etc., and after establishing him, he said to the people present, "Great ones! [Devanupriyo] From today, none of you should ask me anything about various tasks [reasons, deliberations, family problems, confidential matters, matters to be considered in solitude, decisions made, and mutual interactions], nor should you give me advice, nor should you prepare or bring me food, drink, food, or delicacies."
