[१५५ नवनवतिस्थानक-समवाय ४४४-मंदरे णं पव्वए णवणउइजोयणसहस्साइं उड्ढं उच्चत्तेणं पण्णत्ते। नंदणवणस्स णं पुरच्छिमिल्लाओ चरमंताओ पच्चच्छिमिल्ले चरमंते एस णं नवनउइजोयणसयाइं अबाहाए अंतरे पण्णत्ते। एवं दक्खिणिल्लाओ चरमंताओ उत्तरिल्ले चरमंते एस णं णवणउइजोयणसयाई अबाहाए अंतरे पण्णत्ते।
मन्दर पर्वत निन्यानवै हजार योजन ऊंचा कहा गया है। नन्दनवन के पूर्वी चरमान्त से पश्चिमी चरमान्त निन्यानवै सौ (१९००) योजन अन्तरवाला कहा गया है। इसी प्रकार नन्दनवन के दक्षिणी चरमान्त से उत्तरी चरमान्त निन्यानवै सौ (९९००) योजन अन्तर वाला है।
विवेचन- मेरु पर्वत भूतल पर दश हजार योजन विस्तारवाला है और पाँच सौ योजन की ऊंचाई पर अवस्थित नन्दनवन के स्थान पर नौ हजार नौ सौ चौपन योजन तथा एक योजन के ग्यारह भागों में से छह भाग-प्रमाण मेरु का बाह्य विस्तार है। और भीतरी विस्तार उन्यासी सौ चौपन योजन और एक योजन के ग्यारह भागों में से छह भाग-प्रमाण है। पाँच सौ योजन नन्दनवन की चौड़ाई है। इस प्रकार मेरु का आभ्यन्तर विस्तार और दोनों ओर के नन्दनवन का पाँच पाँच सौ योजन का विस्तार ये सब मिलकर प्रायः सूत्रोक्त अन्तर हो जाता है।

उत्तर दिशा में सूर्य का प्रथम मंडल आयाम-विष्कम्भ की अपेक्षा कुछ अधिक निन्यानवै हजार योजन कहा गया है। दूसरा सूर्य-मंडल भी आयाम-विष्कम्भ की अपेक्षा कुछ अधिक निन्यानवै हजार योजन कहा गया है। तीसरा सूर्यमंडल भी आयाम-विष्कम्भ की अपेक्षा कुछ अधिक निन्यानवै हजार योजन कहा गया है।
विवेचन-सूर्य जिस आकाश-मार्ग से मेरु के चारों ओर परिभ्रमण करता है उसे सूर्य-मंडल कहते हैं। जब वह उत्तर दिशा के सबसे पहिले मंडल पर परिभ्रमण करता है, तब उस मंडल की गोलाकार रूप में लम्बाई निन्यानवै हजार छह सौ चालीस योजन (९९६४०) होती है। जब सूर्य दूसरे मंडल पर परिभ्रमण करता है, तब उसकी लम्बी निन्यानवै हजार छह सौ पैंतालीस योजन और एक योजन के इकसठ भागों में से पैंतीस भाग-प्रमाण होती है। प्रथम मंडल से इस दूसरे मंडल की पांच योजन और पैंतीस भाग इकसठ वृद्धि का कारण यह है कि एक मंडल से दूसरे मंडल का अन्तर दो-दो योजन का है तथा सूर्य के विमान का विष्कम्भ एक योजन के इकसठ भागों में से अड़तालीस भाग-प्रमाण है। इसे दुगुना कर देने पर पाँच योजन और एक योजन के इकसठ भागों में से पैंतीस भाग-प्रमाण वृद्धि प्रथम
