[समवायाङ्गसूत्र विवेचन-सत्तानवैवें स्थान के सूत्र में प्रतिपादित अन्तर में गोस्तुभ आवास-पर्वत के एक हजार योजन विष्कम्भ को मिला देने पर अट्ठानवै हजार योजन का अन्तर सिद्ध हो जाता है।
४४१ -दाहिणभरहस्सणं धणुपिढे अट्ठाणउइ जोयणसयाई किंचूणाई आयामेणं पण्णत्ते।
दक्षिण भरतक्षेत्र का धनु:पृष्ठ कुछ कम अट्ठानवै सौ (९८००) योजन आयाम (लम्बाई) की अपेक्षा कहा गया है।
४४२-उत्तराओ कट्ठाओ सूरिए पढमं छम्मासं अयमाणे एगणपन्नासतिमे मंडलगते अट्ठाणउइ एकसट्ठिभागे मुहत्तस्स दिवसंखेत्तस्स निवुड्ढेत्ता रयणिखेत्तस्स अभिनिवुड्डित्ता णं सूरिए चारं चरइ। दक्खिणओ णं कट्ठाओ सूरिए दोच्चं छम्मासं अयमाणे एगूणपन्नासइमे मंडलगते अट्ठाणउइ एकसट्ठिभाए मुहुत्तस्स रयणिखित्तस्स निवुड्ढेत्ता दिवसखेत्तस्स अभिनिवुड्डेत्ता णं सूरिए चारं चरइ।
उत्तर दिशा से सर्य प्रथम छह मास दक्षिण की ओर आता हआ उनपचासवें मंडल के ऊपर आकर मुहूर्त के इकसठिये अट्ठानवै भाग दिवसक्षेत्र (दिन) के घटाकर और रजनीक्षेत्र (रात) के बढ़ाकर संचार करता है। इसी प्रकार दक्षिण दिशा से सूर्य दूसरे छह मास उत्तर की ओर जाता हुआ उनपचासवें मंडल के ऊपर आकर मुहूर्त के अट्ठानवै इकसठ भाग रजनीक्षेत्र (रात) के घटाकर और दिवसक्षेत्र (दिन) के बढ़ाकर संचार करता है।
विवेचन-सर्य के एक एक मंडल में संचार करने पर महर्त के इकसठ भागों में से दो भाग प्रमाण दिन की वृद्धि या रात की हानि होती है। अतः उनपचासवें मंडल में सूर्य के संचार करने पर मुहूर्त के अट्ठानवै इकसठ भाग की वृद्धि और हानि सिद्ध हो जाती है। सूर्य चाहे उत्तर से दक्षिण की ओर संचार करे और चाहे दक्षिण से उत्तर दिशा की ओर संचार करे, परन्तु उनपचासवें मंडल पर परिभ्रमण के समय दिन या रात की उक्त वृद्धि या हानि ही रहेगी।
४४३-रेवई-पढमजेद्रापजवसाणाणं एगणवीसाए नक्खत्ताणं अद्राणउड ताराओ तारग्गेणं पण्णत्ताओ।
रेवती से लेकर ज्येष्ठा तक के उन्नीस नक्षत्रों के तारे अट्ठानवै हैं।
विवेचन- ज्योतिषशास्त्र के अनुसार रेवती नक्षत्र बत्तीस तारावाला है, अश्विनी तीन तारा वाला है, भरणी तीन तारावाला है, कृत्तिका छह तारावाला है, रोहिणी पाँच तारावाला है, मृगशिर तीन तारावाला है, आर्द्रा एक तारावाला है, पुनर्वसु पाँच तारावाला है, पुष्य तीन तारावाला है, अश्लेषा छह तारावाला है, मघा सात तारावाला है, पूर्वाफाल्गुनी दो तारावाला है, उत्तराफाल्गुनी दो तारावाला है, हस्त पाँच तारावाला है, चित्रा एक तारावाला है, स्वाति एक तारावाला है, विशाखा एक तारावाला है, अनुराधा चार तारावाला है, और ज्येष्ठा नक्षत्र तीन तारावाला है। इन उन्नीसों नक्षत्रों के ताराओं को जोड़ने पर (३२+३+३+६+५+ ३+१+५+३+ ६+७+२+२+५+१+१+५+४+३=९७) अन्य ग्रन्थों के अनुसार सत्तानवै संख्या ही होती है। किन्तु प्रस्तुत सूत्र में उन्नीस नक्षत्रों के ताराओं की संख्या अट्ठानवे (९८) बताई गई है, अतः उक्त नक्षत्रों में से किसी एक नक्षत्र के ताराओं की संख्या एक अधिक होनी चाहिए। तभी सूत्रोक्त अट्ठानवै संख्या सिद्ध होगी, ऐसा टीकाकार का अभिप्राय है।
