से खड़ी बोली में अनुवाद किया था। उन्होंने अकेले ही बत्तीस सूत्रों का अनुवाद कार्य सिर्फ ३ वर्ष व १५ दिन में पूर्ण कर एक अद्भुत कार्य किया। उनकी दृढ़ लगनशीलता, साहस एवं आगम ज्ञान की गम्भीरता उनके कार्य से ही स्वतः परिलक्षित होती है। वे ३२ ही आगम इस समय में प्रकाशित भी हो गये।

मैं जब प्रातः स्मरणीय गुरुदेव स्वामीजी श्री जोरावरमलजी म. के सान्निध्य में आगमों का अध्ययनअनुशीलन करता था तब आगमोदय समिति द्वारा प्रकाशित आचार्य अभयदेव व शीलांक की टीकाओं से युक्त कुछ आगम उपलब्ध थे। उन्हीं के आधार पर मैं अध्ययन-वाचन करता था। गुरुदेवश्री ने कई बार अनुभव किया- यद्यपि यह संस्करण काफी श्रमसाध्य व उपयोगी हैं, अब तक उपलब्ध संस्करणों में प्रायः शुद्ध भी हैं, फिर भी अनेक स्थल अस्पष्ट हैं, मूलपाठों में व वृत्ति में कहीं-कहीं अशुद्धता व अन्तर भी है। सामान्य जन के लिए दुरूह तो हैं ही। चूंकि गुरुदेवश्री स्वयं आगमों के प्रकाण्ड पण्डित थे, उन्हें आगमों के अनेक गूढार्थ गुरुगम से प्राप्त थे। उनकी मेधा भी व्युत्पन्न व तर्क-प्रवण थी, अत: वे इस कमी को अनुभव करते थे और चाहते थे कि आगमों का शुद्ध, सर्वोपयोगी ऐसा प्रकाशन हो, जिससे सामान्य ज्ञानवाले श्रमण-श्रमणी एवं जिज्ञासुजन लाभ उठा सकें। उनके मन की यह तड़प कई बार व्यक्त होती थी। पर कुछ परिस्थितियों के कारण उनका यह स्वप्न-संकल्प साकार नहीं हो सका, फिर भी मेरे मन में प्रेरणा बनकर अवश्य रह गया।
इसी अन्तराल में आचार्य श्री जवाहरलाल जी महारजा, श्रमणसंघ के प्रथम आचार्य जैनधर्म दिवाकर आचार्य श्री आत्माराम जी म., विद्वद्रत्न श्री घासीलालजी म. आदि मनीषी मुनिवरों ने आगमों की हिन्दी, संस्कृत, गुजराती आदि में सुन्दर विस्तृत टीकायें लिखकर या अपने तत्त्वावधान में लिखवा कर कमी को पूरा करने का महनीय प्रयत्न किया है।
श्वेताम्बर मूर्तिपूजक आम्नाय के विद्वान् श्रमण परमश्रुतसेवी स्व. मुनि श्री पुण्यविजयजी ने आगम सम्पादन की दिशा में बहुत व्यवस्थित व उच्चकोटि का कार्य प्रारम्भ किया था। विद्वानों ने उसे बहुत ही सराहा। किन्तु उनके स्वर्गवास के पश्चात् उसमें व्यवधान उत्पन्न हो गया। तदपि आगमज्ञ मुनि श्री जम्बूविजयजी आदि के तत्त्वावधान में आगम-सम्पादन का सुन्दर व उच्चकोटि का कार्य आज भी चल रहा है।
वर्तमान में तेरापंथ सम्प्रदाय में आचार्य श्री तुलसी एवं युवाचार्य महाप्रज्ञजी के नेतृत्व में आगम-सम्पादन का कार्य चल रहा है और जो आगम प्रकाशित हुए हैं उन्हें देखकर विद्वानों को प्रसन्नता है। यद्यपि उनके पाठनिर्णय में काफी मतभेद की गुंजाइश है। तथापि उनके श्रम का महत्त्व है। मुनि श्री कन्हैयालालजी म. "कमल" आगमों की वक्तव्यता को अनुयोगों में वर्गीकृत करके प्रकाशित कराने की दिशा में प्रयत्नशील हैं। उनके द्वारा सम्पादित कुछ आगमों में उनकी कार्यशैली की विशदता एवं मौलिकता स्पष्ट होती है।
आगम साहित्य के वयोवृद्ध विद्वान् पं. श्री बेचरदास जी दोशी, विश्रुत-मनीषी श्री दलसुखभाई मालवणिया जैसे चिन्तनशील प्रज्ञापुरुष आगमों के आधुनिक सम्पादन की दिशा में स्वयं भी कार्य कर रहे हैं तथा अनेक विद्वानों का मार्ग-दर्शन कर रहे हैं। यह प्रसन्नता का विषय है।
