27. [Q.] In what manner do the hellish beings cry and bemoan ?
[Ans.] O unknown friend! O master! O brother! O father! O saviour! O conqueror ! Kindly make me free. I am dying. I am weak. I am suffering from illness. Why are you becoming so hard-hearted and cruel at this moment. Kindly do not attack me. Kindly allow me to give a sigh of relief for a little time-say 48 minutes. Please have mercy on me. Do not be angry with me. May I take rest for sometime. Please release my neck. My throat is becoming dry due to thirst. Please give me some water. नारकपालों द्वारा दिया जाने वाला घोर दुःख DREADFUL TORTURE BY GUARDIANS OF HELL
२८. हंता पिय इमं जलं विमलं सीयलं त्ति घेत्तूण य णरयपाला तवियं तउयं से दिंति कलसेण अंजलीसु दट्टू य तं पवेवियंगोवंगा अंसुपगलंतपप्पुक्च्छा - "छिण्णा तण्हाइयम्ह कलुणाणि जंपमाणा विप्पेक्खंता दिसोदिसिं अत्ताणा असरणा अणाहा अबंधवा बंधविप्पहूणा विपलायंति य मिया इव वेगेण भयुव्विग्गा ।
२८. (जब वे पानी माँगते हैं तब नरकपाल कहते हैं) 'अच्छा, हाँ, (तुम्हें प्यास सता रही है ? तो लो) यह निर्मल और शीतल जल पीओ।' इस प्रकार कहकर नरकपाल अर्थात् परमाधामी असुर नारकों को पकड़कर खौलता हुआ सीसा कलश से उनकी अंजुली में उड़ेल देते हैं । उसे देखते ही उनके अंगोपांग काँपने लगते हैं। उनके नेत्रों से आँसू टपकने लगते हैं। फिर वे रोते-रोते कहते हैं- ' ( रहने दीजिए), हमारी प्यास शान्त गई !' इस प्रकार करुणाजनक हीन वचन बोलते हुए भागने - बचने के लिए इधर-उधर ताकने लगते हैं । किन्तु वहाँ उन्हें कोई त्राण (रक्षा) देने वाला, शरण देने वाला, सहारा देने वाला नहीं है। वे अरक्षित, निराश्रित, अनाथ, बन्धुविहीन एवं भय के मारे घबराकर के सिंह से आक्रान्त मृग की तरह बड़े वेग से इधर-उधर भागते हैं ।
28. (When the hellish beings demand water, the guardians of hell say ) well you are suffering due to thirst. So you have it. Here is clear cold water. You drink it. Saying so, the demon gods guarding the hell catch hold of the hellish beings and put hot melted lead on their cupped palms. The hellish beings start shivering at the very sight of the pot of melted lead. They start weeping bitterly and utter while weeping-'kindly keep it away. Our thirst has subsided'. Thus while seeking compassion through such words, they look hither and thither in order to run away. But there is no one to provide protection, help or security to them. The poor hellish beings run away hither and thither very fast in a state of bewilderment just as a terrified deer runs away at the sight of a lion.
